Promise

I'm youth, I'm joy, I'm a little bird that has broken out of the egg.

Sadly, the grouping pictured here didn't make it - temps were down to freezing at night. Only one hatched and he died overnight, BUT we noticed earlier this week that there are four new eggs in the nest, so we'll see how they fare. So far Mama Bird has been pretty vigilent, and the temps are MUCH warmer than a month ago, so the new eggs might just make it.

The nest on my porch is empty already. I guess that is normal around here. There was another in the backyard and they're gone too. They must have been born a little earlier in the spring than I thought.

I used to love finding nests around the yard when I was a kid. Haven't seen one "up close and personal" in years, though.

Hope the new eggs make it!
