In honor of the upcoming Independence Day, here are thirteen patriotic songs of the United States of America. Feel free to sing along with me!

  4. Thanks Stephanie!

Maya - I have too great memories pertaining to this song. The first is from a rodeo attended when I was about 13--a lone female rider carried the flag round the arena on horseback as this song played--just as a train went by in the background. Talk about a slice of Americana. They could not have planned it any better! The second was when Greenwood performed it live here at Rhythm & Booms a few years ago, a crowd of thousands singing and swaying arm in arm. It was magic!

Mary - Happy 4th to you as well!

Alice - Baja?! Some people are sooo spoiled!

  12. Go Shelley! *G*

    AD - Thank you!

Adelle - Thanks! I hope you had a good holiday as well.

Harriet - I live in an apartment, so nowhere to hang flags outside, but our local paper always prints a full-page flag for people to hang in their windows on the 4th.

Jill - Thank you. "God Bless the USA" seems to be a favorite among many!

    Inez - Cohan rocks! *G*

    Pamela - Thank you!

Jamie - A happy 4th to you as well! *G*

  13. fun list. I'd add Ballad of the Green Berets, because I love it. And, bizarrely patriotic, bordering on jingoistic, I'd add Metallica's Don't Tread on Me.

  14. Thanks for the Canada Day wishes, by the way!

Battle Hymn of the Republic is always a spine-tingler for me. I sang it with my choir one time, and always remember how awesome it felt to sing it.

  15. Jennifer - "Battle Hymn of the Rupublic" can be quite moving, depending on the performance.

Colleen - Love "America the Beautiful" as well. I remember learning it in first grade.

    Paige - Thank you!

Elisse - Can't say I'm familiar with the Metallica song, so I'll take your word on that one. ;)

  21. Hi,

Yeah, well, I had no idea you were going to post patriotic songs too.

This time I post the thirteen colonies, it was perfect for a thirteen list.

Happy TT and happy Fourth of July.

Janice - Ah, you know I love ya, hon. Just had to rib you a little, that's all. Plus half our choices were different! ;)

    Alexia - Thank you! *g*
