Teaser Tuesday 57: The Trouble With Magic

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

FINISHED OVER THE WEEKEND--I REALLY LIKED THIS ONE. PERFECT FOR THE WEEK BEFORE HALLOWEEN!

The old homestead wasn't my usual choice for a lazy Saturday afternoon, but I felt a strong need to be back among the world of the living. The normal. Back to where the sun rose and set, the dead stayed dead, and the living were as screwed up as they had always been.
(pg 152)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
A Bewitching mystery--first in the new paranormal chick-lit mystery series.

Antiques-shop clerk Maggie O'Neill was a little weirded out when she discovered her new boss Felicity was a witch. But when Felicity becomes the suspect in a local murder, Maggie must enlist Felicity's wiccan friends for help--and discover her own spellbinding talent.

  4. The only time I wouldn't mind the dead not being dead was if they were vampires - hunky ones at that :) Thanks for sharing

  14. Jennifer: Yes, that would be nice, wouldn't it? Especially this time of year.

Christie: I hope this has inspired you to pluck this book out of the TBR. I'm glad I finally got round to this series.

EJ: Thanks, it was indeed a good book. I love the (sometimes sarcastic) voice of the main character.

Bookishsnob: ROFL...you and a great many other women! *g*

  15. LMW: This is indeed a fun series. Read the first two over the weekend, and even though other books beckoned, I couldn't help diving into book three.

Alice: What? You're family isn't screwed up? Heaven knows mine sure is!

Marg: I admit, there were a few scenes or lines that had me laughing aloud. This one included.

Joy: Definitely a good book for this time of year. Not only is it set in October, it also has a witchy theme. ;)

LadyQ: Thank you. It was good enough that it had me reaching for book two right away, followed by book three, LOL. Definite signs of a good read!

  19. Laurel-Rain: I'm now on book three of the series and it is indeed a fun one. I like the characters (did I mention Tom or Marcus? No? Silly me!) and the sprinkling of Wicccan teachings throughout the books.

  20. I saw this book on the shelf the other day. I passed it by because I'm a chicken when it comes to supernatural and witchy stuff. Your teaser gives me the impression that I wouldn't have to worry about that if I were to read it. Thanks.

  22. I have this series in my huge TBR pile and I can't wait to get to them!

    Here is my Teaser

  23. Susieee: No, no need to worry about black magic or anything satanic in this series. They're marketed as chick-lit mysteries, so although there may be murder and mayhem, there are also some irreverently funny scenes, and I love the main characters sarchastic voice.

Jo: Right on both counts! *G*

Purple: Hope you get to this series soon and like it as much as I do!
