Tamarack trees in the UW Arboretum. Tamaracks are a type of larch commonly found in swamps, bogs, and other low-land areas, and are one of few conifers that lose their needles in winter. The needles are a light blue-green in summer, turning to yellow before they drop. They produce small, bright red cones only about an inch in size. They are native to northern North America and Canada.
Ah, so those are Tamaracks. I've heard people talk about them with awe.
