Thursday Thirteen 216: Olbrich

Two weeks ago, I shared pictures from Olbrich's Blooming Butterflies exhibit. Last week I shared photos of some of some of the plant life found inside Olbrich's Bolz Conservatory. This week we go outside. As it was 90F that day, with humidity that made it feel a good ten degrees worse, we did not tour all 16 acres of the gardens as we normally would have, but I did get a few good pics from the two or three gardens we did walk through.

Entrance to Sunken Garden~
you can see Lake Monona in the distance.

Pretty blossoms everywhere.

Ornamental grasses.

Black-Eyed Susans

There are chairs and benches tucked in
quiet nooks all over the gardens.

"Fiddleheads" by Sylvia Beckman.

A memorial bench.

I absolutely LOVE this grape arbor.
The pathway leading to the herb garden
passes through it, and you can see
that there is a bench on either side.

Partial view of the pergola

  1. You do great macro work, but I like the first shot best. Me and my thing for scenery.

  11. Alice: Thank you. Too bad the city ruined this shot by planting a light pole just left of center. ;)

Shelley: Thank you, and yes—it is pleasant wandering the gardens. I wish it hadn't been too hot to see more of them that day. We missed the rose garden and Thai Pavilion, among others.

    Ron: Haha... Funny. (NOT!)

Brenda: Thanks for "visiting" the gardens with me. If you haven't been there before, you'll have to get over this way some day to do so. I don't recommend visiting in July or August, though—too hot!

  12. Robin: Bolz Conservatory is part of Olbrich Gardens in Madison. Click on either of the links mentioned top of post for more about it.

Jennifer: There is a lot of cool and/or unusual art around the Gardens. Too bad it was too hot to trek back to the Thai Pavilion. Talk about amazing!

Maddy: LOL...trust me, it really was that hot. We were perspiring standing still. :-/

  13. Nicholas: Most welcome, and thank you for visiting. *g*

Paige: They truly do have a lot of beautiful flowers here. Thankfully, most seemed to be braving the intense heat quite well.

Darla: The grape arbor is one of my favorite features, but it's so huge pictures honestly don't do it justice.
