Thursday Thirteen 444: Ornaments

Because I did not get to share before Christmas, here are thirteen ornaments (in six pictures) that I stitched last year -- the candy cane and wreaths were from a kit with materials to make ten, but I actually made twice that.

It's hard to see, but there is a tiny
snowman next to the red birdhouse.

These both went to a friend's mom who LOVES white bears.

I substituted gray DMC floss for the gold and
yellows so that one of these had silver bells.

I forgot to photograph this one and the one below
after they were framed. Oops! Both were stitched
from kits that included the frames.

  1. Colleen: No. I can stitch while watching TV/Movies, or when we are slow at work, but not while reading. (I can also stitch in a moving vehicle, though I have not done that in a while.)

  2. That first one is so detailed!

I thought I recognized your work before.

  3. Alice: A little detailed, yes. I wish this photo was clearer. I did take one of it before it was framed, but again -- forgot to get one after, and this particular pic was cropped from a larger pic. Oh, well... I'll try to be more diligent this year.

  4. All of them are great - I like the polar bears best!

  5. Such beautiful work. The Polar bears are sweet and also bittersweet icons of change.
Cross stitch is a favorite craft here, too.
My sister and I made a few ornaments back in the day and she went on to "masterful" like you. I would love to have the pattern for the bird houses. So adorable.

  6. Thank you, Zippi Kit. I always do a ton of ornaments each year, as well as a few larger pieces.

  7. These are very nice. I like those little cross stitch kits you can pick up for a few books. They're quick and look neat. Nice job!

  8. Anita: Yes, I've done a few of those $2 kits -- three of which are pictured here (skating snowman, tiny polar bear, and bluebird). I love finding cute ornament designs I can finish in a night or two.
