Here's what I've been reading the past few months. Books read so far this year: 72 -- that puts me three away from my goal of 75. I still have one classic to read for the Casual Classics challenge, and the book chosen for that will also fit the Christmas Reading Challenge that runs November 26 - December 31.

Wait, is Prisoner of Azkaban where your started the series? Shouldn't some of the others be on this list? Or was that a previous list? I'm all confused.

Alice ~ Wow, the mind reallt is the first thing that goes, LOL. Books 1 & 2 were on a previous list, dear. I'll get to book 4 sometime in 2010. My reading is all about Christmas now until NYD!
ReplyDeleteAdelle ~ I've always been a voracious reader, though I don't read nearly as fast as I used to. For one, that J-O-B thing keeps getting in the way (though I did finish the last two chapters of a book there today. Shhh...don't tell!

ReplyDeleteElise ~ Thanks! Book four of the Casual Classic Challenge of 2009 will be Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory. Of course, I also found a Betty Neels in the TBR yesterday, and that could be counted as a classic too, yes? *g*

ReplyDeleteI also have to say, I like the tag line of your blog, that it's both in words and pictures. For some reason, I find that to be even more interesting than just words, because it gives me something to look at. I loved that you posted the pictures of the covers; it was fun to see all the different ways that a book could be packaged.

ReplyDeleteThat Nora Roberts is probably about the only one of hers I didn't actually read this year.
I'm familar with some of the other authors on your list, but haven't read the books you actually posted. My TBR pile is actually on the thin side at the moment, so this'll give me some ideas. Thanks!
Catherine ~ Aw, shucks... Now you've got me all chocked up. Thank you. I do try to vary my reading. I find if I stick to all one genre, I get bored. So...I try to mix it up a bit, though I mostly read in the mystery/thriller/suspense genres.
ReplyDeleteMary ~ It was actually pretty good. I had seen I Scream, You Scream mentioned in a newsletter, then several people at Goodreads recommended it. The denouement was a bit contrived, but it was otherwise good. I would definitely read something else from this author. I actually used it in a Teaser Tuesday a few weeks ago. Stuck on Murder was by far the funniest of all the books here.
Nikki ~ Thanks, I love seeing the different covers myself. Of course, were I more ambitious I would link them to B&N or Amazon. LOL I couldn't imagine having a small TBR. My pile has grown way out of hand, but at least I have plenty to read during those times I can't afford to buy a lot of new ones. You can never have too many books, right? *VBG*

ReplyDeleteShelley ~ As you can see, I'm just making my way through the HP books, and have really been getting into the Berkley Prime Crime more lately. A lot of those center around crafts, but I also like Sheila Connolly's apple orchard series, and there's a fun witch series by Madelyn Alt waiting at top of the TBR.
ReplyDeleteMs Menozzi ~ How to increase reading... Well, I always carry a book with me, I try to read a couple chapters every day, and joining challenges or book clubs can also help push your reading.

ReplyDeleteAlice ~ Although they are fast reads, I unfortunately do not yet have the last four in the series. I've been watching the local UBS for the paperbacks, but I really prefer the mass market size to trade size. In any case, my reading is all about the holidays now until the end of the year. *goes back to A Dog Named Christmas*

ReplyDeleteI just bought my first of the Sookie series by Charlaine Harris. I'm a big fan of the TV series and a friend said the books are even better (no surprise).

Betty ~ Those were both books I missed in HS, and am glad to have picked them up, though 1984 was disturbing on many levels.

I resisted reading them for quite a while myself, but was glad I had bought the 7-book box set when I did, so I could devour them one after another. Congrats on exceeding your reading goal for this year! I'm just starting book 75, so I have officially met my goal for the year.
