Teaser Tuesday 211: Night Broken

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week I am teasing from a book finished Monday night, Night Broken by Patricia Briggs. This was a great addition to the Mercy Thompson series. Though there was a lot of action, there were also plenty of passages that had me laughing out loud. Here are a few teasers, since I had a hard time settling on just one.

Love means leaving yourself vulnerable, knowing that there is someone to catch you when you fall.

"Chica," he said seriously, "next time some firebug starts throwing burning things at you, run away."

"I'll take that under advisement," I promised him solemnly."

(EMT and Mercy, chapter 7)

"You're going to count to three? Seriously? How old do you think I am?"

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Series: Mercy Thompson #8

An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam's ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn't the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam's house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.

Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.

Mercy isn't about to step down without a fight, but there's a more dangerous threat circling. Christy's ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

  2. Laurel-Rain: Glad to intrigue you! The thing about this sereis is you never know what sort of supernatural "creature" they might go up against -- werewolves, vampires, river devils, the fae, ex-wives -- you just know that Mercy and Company will somehow prevail.

  4. That's much better than "love means never having to say you're sorry." Sounds like a good story.
