Thursday Thirteen 451: Recently Viewed

For this week's topic I have thirteen movies I have watched so far this year. Some of these I had seen before — though in most cases it had been years since I last saw them — and a few I had not seen before (denoted by an *). Click on any link for more information about a particular movie.

01. While You Were Sleeping (1995; Bill Pullman, Sandra Bullock — one of my favorite movies)

02. The Holiday (2006; Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, Kate Winslet)

03. Tootsie (1982; Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange, Teri Garr)

04. Love Actually (2003; Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightly, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth)

05. The African Queen (1951; Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Robert Morley)

06. Laura * (1944; Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Clifton Webb)

07. Precious * (2009; Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'Nique, Paula Patton)

08. Groundhog Day (1993; Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell)

09. Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-2003; The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, Return of the King; Stars: Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Sean Astin, Sean Bean, Cate Blanchette, Viggo Mortensen)

10. Ant-Man * (2015; Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll)

11. Pitch Perfect 2 * (2015; Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld)

  1. I've seen several on your list. And you've given me others to ponder. I watch a lot of documentaries but entertainment films, too.
I like a wide range of films from "Princess Bride" to "No Town for Old Men". The latter is one I'd like to recommend though it's a rather violent film. But if you've watched "Breaking Bad", you've seen some real drug terror. I couldn't get though "Breaking Bad".

  2. The Lord of the Rings trilogy could probably count as 9 films! I watch the extended versions at least three times a year and can quote the dialogue almost word for word. I love those movies. The extended versions are a bit better than the theatrical release - adds a bit of depth. If you get a chance to watch the extended versions you might find it interesting to compare.

  4. Zippi Kit: Thanks for weighing in!

Anita: At least 9 films, and I only watched the trilogy, not all the extra stuff. I don't know how I made it through these when I saw them in the theater -- I had to pause each at least once for a bathroom break! :-|

Alice: That's always a favorite of mine, and I always seem to watch it around Christmas (give or take a couple weeks, LOL).

  5. I love your lists. They always give me something to consider or something to check out. Thanks.

I just recently saw Ant Man. It was better than I thought it would be.

  6. Mia: Ant-Man had a lot of great one-liners. I just got a couple classic movie collections I can't wait to delve into.

  7. Just watch Equals and liked it. Passengers was great. Love Science Fiction. Railway Man was great (not scifi).
