Teaser Tuesday 144: The Last Word

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

I am currently about four chapters into The Last Word by Ellery Adams. Since not much has happened yet, I peeked ahead a few pages and came across this passage:

Her eyes were immediately drawn to a splash of blue in the middle of the bleached pine wood floor. It took her a moment to understand what she was seeing, but when it became clear, she sucked in her breath and jumped away from the window.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
The Last Word by Ellery Adams (Books by the Bay #3)
Genre: cozy mystery

Olivia Limoges and the Bayside Book Writers are excited about Oyster Bay's newest resident: bestselling novelist Nick Plumley, who's come to work on his next book. But when Olivia stops by Plumley's rental she finds that he's been strangled to death. Her instincts tell her that something from the past came back to haunt him, but she never expects that the investigation could spell doom for one of her dearest friends. . .

Great teaser! I love a good cozy mystery although when I read the first in this series I wasn't over keen on Olivia. Maybe I need to try again.

My teaser is here if you'd like a look :)

Oh, no, the splash of blue is nothing good, I'm sure. Thanks for sharing.

Here's MY TUESDAY MEMES POST

Ok, you've got me hooked. Why would a splash of blue be scary?

Heather said...

Shelley: I still haven'y got that far, but am guessing the blue will be an article of clothing.

Beth: Glad to intrigue you! *g*

Claire: Olivia's character is one that grows over the series. I did not much like her at the beginning of book one, but am glad I stuck with the series.

Laurel-Rain: Yes, I am sure that splash of blue won't be good.

Alice: Guess maybe it's what is attached to the splash of blue? *weg*
