Last Thursday, October 17, the morning rain and clouds had cleared out enough by late afternoon that I decided to bundle up and take my camera for a walk. I started out along the nearby bike path, then hiked through a small wooded conservancy before following a meandering path home through my neighborhood — roughly 3-1/2 miles. Leaves were at 50-75 percent peak color and most of them still wet.

Pretty photos, but as much as I enjoy the colors, I'm glad we're in spring!
Lovely photos, H. We're well gone-by up here in the northeast corner of VT, but it was indeed a gloriously colorful time. Possible snow overnight Saturday, they say. Oy.
I think the one with the steps is my favorite. We haven't reached peak color yet, but I think soon.
superb photos I see you walking in the coolness and change
I need to get out for a walk, and not just post about one I took months ago.
We're in synch again. :)
Great shots. I love the leaves in autumn. And spring!
Thanks, Shelley! Much as I love seeing some of those spring flowers coming up, I much prefer autumn, even if the temps are a good 10-15 below normal right now.
Ron: Snow. *Shiver* I don't even want to think about it. They've already had several inches in Northern Wis, and I saw flurries here yesterday. Winter is coming way too fast!
Anita: I love those stairs, but coming down them was a bit tricky, the leaves being as wet as they were. I almost didn't take photos of the steps -- too busy concentrating on getting down them without slipping -- and was glad later that I had.
Sandyland: I love long walks, but find it more difficult to force myself out when the weather turns cold. At least I live in a good area for both walking and photography! :)
Alice: LOL...people are going to start wondering if we plan this. And yes, you really should get out for a walk before the weather turns frigid. ☺
Thanks, Rebecca! I love the changing leaves, the crunch under my feet, the crisp fresh air -- I just wish it wasn't so cold already!
Beautiful pictures, Heather! I love rain anytime but especially during the autumn season. Gorgeous!
Pretty photos!

Stephanie: I generally love rain, too -- so long as it falls in moderation. We've had a lot of bleak, overcast and rainy days here lately. No rain today, but it is cold and mostly cloudy.
Thanks, Paige! ☺
Love all the pictures of the leaves!
Jodi: Thank you, and thanks for visiting!
What great photos, love the stair one most of all. I'm a big fan of everything Autumn!!! LOVE this time of year.
Happy Weekend, G
I love the fallen leaves. The crunch under foot, the marvelous colors, the scent of the leaves themselves. Love your photos, especially the one with the water on the leaf. :)
Sso many varied colors and the leaf strewn path is lovely.
Geraldine: Thanks, this is my favorite time of year, too. ☺
Mama P: Some of the many reasons I love autumn! I'm glad you like the photos, but wish you'd been more specific about the "one with the water on the leaf" -- there are four of them! :D
Thanks, Kate! I do like walking that path, no matter what time of year. It was much more colorful last year, but -- alas -- many trees and shrubs fell prey to a preservation/safety project last winter.
Beautiful leaves! I love the second one and the stairs. Once this week I thought I would take photos of autumn leaves. Then I woke up and realized it was just my autumn dream :)
Hazel
Hazel: LOL @ your dreaming of autumn. I'm glad you liked the pics of some of my fall foliage. It's funny, the ash trees are completely bare already, and other trees (like the maples on my block) have hardly turned color or lost any leaves at all.
Gorgeous! And a lot of work for someone. haha
Our leaves haven't really begun to change yet. One or two trees here and there, maybe but not any real display of color yet.
Jana: Thankfully, living in an apartment means I don't have to rake leaves at home, but I did help K rake tons of crabapples and leaves a couple weeks ago.
just lovely shots with the water drops! :)
thanks for coming by!
Thanks, TexWisGirl! ☺
