Teaser Tuesday 210: Face the Fire

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week I am reading the last book in Nora Roberts' Three Sisters Island trilogy, Face the Fire. I'm only five chapters in, so here's a sampling from the prologue.

Her heart was broken. The jagged shards of it stabbed at her soul until each hour, each moment, of what her life had become was misery. Even her children--those she had carried in her body, those she carried for her lost sisters--were no comfort.

Nor was she, to her great shame, any comfort to them.

(Opening of Prologue)

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Mia Devlin knows that it's like to love with your whole heart - and then watch your love walk away. Years ago, she and Sam Logan shared and incredible bond built on passion, legend, and fate. But then one day he fled Three Sisters Island, leaving her lost in memories of the magic they shared - and determined to live without love . . .

The new owner of the island's only hotel, Sam has returned to Three Sisters with hopes of winning back Mia's affections. He is puzzled when she greets him with icy indifference - for the chemistry between them is still sizzling and true. Angry, hurt, and deeply confused, Mia refuses to admit that a passion for Sam still burns in her heart. But she'll need his help - and his powers - to face her greatest, most terrifying challenge. And as the deadline for breaking a centuries-old curse draws near, they must take the first step toward destiny - and come together to turn back the dark . . .

Hi Valentina! I've been reading her books a couple decades now. Some I've liked more than others, and this is one of this series I've most enjoyed.

I certainly know the feeling of jagged shards of pain.

Jessica: Thank you, I can't tell the exact number of Nora books I've read, but it's a few dozen (and dozens more to catch up on!).

Laurel-Rain: If you like Nora, do give the "Three Sisters Island" series a try. I'm a quarter of the way into this last book and eager to find out what happens.

Thanks, PD -- glad to have tempted you. ;)

Alice: *Nodding* I think it's an emotion many can relate to. I know I certainly can.

Nora Roberts is an author I am going to look out for during our local second-hand book sales. This sounds like a great read, thank you for sharing it.

She sounds very torn.

Heather said...

Cleopatra: If your local book sales are anything like mine, there will be no shortage of NR books available, both series and single title.

Heather said...

Tribute: Torn...she is indeed! ;)

I used to love Nora Roberts' books so much. I should get back to reading them. This sounds excellent.

Heather said...

Yvonne: Yes, you should get back to them! So far this one has been good. ☺

Very interesting teaser. I should give Roberts a try.

I love her way with words. I'm listening to her JD Robb books on audio at the moment.

Heather said...

Andrea: If you like romance or rom-suspense (with or without paranormal elements), you really should give her a try.

Heather said...

Shelley: I have yet to try any of the JD Robb books. I have enough NR books to try to catch up on, never mind adding in her alter ego, LOL>
