I'll bet the prairies look beautiful with all these hints of red.

Yes, I've heard of sumac, but I've never seen it. Thank you.

Here's my Wordless Wednesday!

Rhonda: The sumac looks like tiny red lanterns when the sun hits it just right.

Deb: You're welcome, glad to share this plant with you. ☺

OrangeHeroMama: It is pretty in autumn when the leaves turn red and the berries stand out, but it is also a 'natural invasive' - it is quite aggressive and will take over if not kept in check.

It's a little surreal. Is the field covered in snow yet?

It is after yesterday. We had rain all day Sunday, and then it changed to snow Monday morning and fell throughout the day. 3-5 inches across our area.

I heard parts of Wisconsin picked up 7 inches a few days ago. We got a dusting but it melted despite some bitter temperatures.

You heard correct. We had about two inches earlier in the month. Then it was 50F this past weekend, and it rained all day Sunday, melting all the snow. Then the rain changed to snow most of Monday. Madison picked up more than five inches, a new record for that day. Not even December, and we're already tying and breaking records. *whimper*
