Teaser Tuesday 318: Eleanor & Park

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

My teaser for this week comes from a young adult novel, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. This was an excellent read I picked up for a steal as a B&N Daily Find. Believe me when I tell you it was worth more than I spent for it. I would highly recommend it to mature teens and adults who enjoy the YA genre. This book is on the “banned books” list due to strong language and adult situations.

He’d stopped trying to bring her back.

She only came back when she felt like it, in dreams and lies and broken-down déjà-vu.

(Prologue)

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Eleanor...
Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.

Park... He knows she'll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises...Park.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.

I've been debating whether or not I should read this book. It sounds interesting.

Hi Vonnie! I thought it was a good coming of age story. If you like YA, give it a try!

Is she a ghost?

Nope! Very flesh and blood. :-D
