These are such lovely pictures!!!! I'm almost tempted to go walk in the botanical gardens now ... but ... yeah... it's too freakin' hot! :) I'll live vicariously through you!
April: I hear you on the weather -- it's comfortable here today, but was really hot the last two days, and more hot and humid weather to come.
Nice shots. I haven't had a good walk in a long time.
Lovely shots. I especially like the last shot and the purple flowers. Nature is the great equalizer/healer.
Still so many flowers! Most of the ones around here are dying down.
Some lovely pictures. And good to see these have been allowed to flourish in a more or less natural setting.
Colleen: Thanks, but um... which purple flowers? There were four different ones!
Alice: There will be flowers blooming at the Arboretum all summer long, right into mid-Autumn. There is something new every couple weeks. Some species do better than others depending on how hot or cool it is.
Thanks, Jennifer!
Rashbre: Thank you. The Arboretum is a natural setting. It is 2000 acres of restored prairie, oak savanna and woods -- reclaimed from fields that were plowed under for farming in the 1800's. Both Curtis and Greene Prairies were painstakingly replanted with original species native to this part of Wisconsin, and from spring into autumn there is something new blooming every week or so.
Beautiful shots. Seeing pictures of flowers always give a sense of calmness
Thanks, Novroz!
