This week’s teaser is from Fogged Inn by Barbara Ross, the fourth in her Maine Clambake series. This book is set the week after Thanksgiving, and the walk-in referred to is a restaurant refrigerator. I’m sure you’ll agree that this intro truly grabs one’s attention.
"Jule-YA! There's a dead guy in the walk-in."
(Opening sentence, chapter one)
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Series: Maine Clambake #4
An autumn chill has settled over Busman’s Harbor, Maine, but Julia Snowden is warming up the town by offering lobster stew at the local diner. When her landlord discovers a dead body in the walk-in refrigerator, Julia must figure out who ordered up a side of murder.
Nothing’s colder than a corpse—especially one stashed inside a sub-zero fridge. The victim spent his last night on earth dining at the restaurant bar, so naturally Julia finds herself at the center of the ensuing investigation. Lost in the November fog, however, is who’d want to kill the unidentified stranger—and why. It might have something to do with a suspicious group of retirees and a decades-old tragedy to which they’re all connected. One thing’s for sure: Julia’s going to make solving this mystery her early bird special…

Oh, I wouldn't want to discover the body in the walk-in! Sounds intense. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
I read it (and enjoyed it) a few weeks ago.
Have a great week!
I bet the Health Department will be really excited about that. Great teaser. My teaser this week is from one of my favorite authors - When All the Girls Have Gone by Jayne Ann Krentz. Happy reading!
Laurel-Rain: Me neither -- not that I'd want to discover one anywhere else, either. '-\
Lea: Glad to hear you enjoyed this one as much as I did!
Kathy: I've been hearing a lot about the latest JAK. It's been a while since I read something by her, and that one definitely sounds intriguing.
Such a casual reaction to a corpse. Does this happen all the time? Love the title.
Alice: He's actually not all that casual about it, since it causes the closure of the restaurant for two days and they have to get rid of all food that was in it. The title comes from an actual B&B in the book called The Fogged Inn.
