A wild turkey hen

Wild turkey in a crabapple tree. Apparently, dried
crabapples are a main staple of their diet in winter
and spring, so it is not uncommon to see them in trees.

Skywatch Friday 145

this red-tailed hawk atop the visitor center.

She's not headless, merely preening her feathers.

Surveying her domain . . .

Preparing for take-off -- I just missed catching her in flight.
