Skywatch Friday 64
Wishing everyone celebrating today a very happy and safe Independence Day! These are from last Saturday night, June 28. They were taken at Olbrich Park on Lake Monona during Madison's "Rhythm and Booms" event. I wish we'd arrived a bit earlier, so as to sit with the Capitol in the background. Maybe next year!

More 4th of July Cards
Here are a few more no-stamp patriotic cards created over the weekend. The diecuts of the kids are from a set I've had sitting around for several years, "I Love America" from My Mind's Eye. I thought I should use them up already. I think some of the diecuts in yesterday's post are also from this pack. The first two cards measure 6.25" x 3.50" and fit in an "all purpose" envelope for home and business (these are slightly shorter than the long #12 business ones).

4th of July Cards, 2014
I actually made some cards this week for the upcoming holiday. I was panicking a bit at first, as I could not find any of the patriotic paper and supplies I knew I had. Thankfully, I finally found the materials desired and I was able to whip out ten cards in only a couple hours. At right is the sketch I used for inspiration, SC493, from SplitcoastStampers. I used up a bunch of paper scraps and diecuts, so I have no idea who some of them are made by. I do know that the red patterned paper is from DCWV and greetings are computer-printed. The top two cards feature epoxy stickers, and the diecuts on the rest are popped up using Dimensionals.

4th of July Cards 2012
A couple of cards for the 4th of July...
I meant to post these on Monday, but forgot I wanted to add a third pic and it was still sitting in 'drafts' on Tuesday. Oops. Ah, well...never too late to share, right?
The first featured a retired stamp set from SU that I have not used in ages. Figured it was past time to pull it out again and wipe off the dust. The second uses a panal from cards made in 2009. I found a bunch of extra panals and used a few for some quick, easy cards.
STAMPS: Thankful Thoughts (Stampin' Up)
INK: Night of Navy, Real Red (SU)
PAPER: DCWV
STAMPS: Let Freedom Ring (Papertrey)

Let Freedom Ring
Happy 4th of July!

Stamps: Eagle (Wildlife Reserve--Stampin' Up), OSW image (Let Freedom Ring--Papertrey)
Paper: Cherry Splash (Bazzill), Kraft and Navy (Wausau Papers), White (Xerox cardstock), designer paper (DCWV)
Ink: Navy Blue, Real Red
Accessories: Oval Punches (Marvy), Brads (Hot Off the Press)
I hope everyone is enjoying a safe and happy holiday.
Yesterday I posted two fourth of July cards made for this week's SCS sketch challenge. Today I share what most of the cards sent out looked like. First, I started with my new "Let Freedom Ring" set from Papertrey.
Yesterday I posted two fourth of July cards made for this week's SCS sketch challenge. Today I share what most of the cards sent out looked like. First, I started with my new "Let Freedom Ring" set from Papertrey.
I started by positioning several of the stamps on my largest acrylic block. My apologies for the poor image quality, but I do not have a digital camera and clear stamps on acrylic do not scan very well. Still, I think you get the gist of it.

Next, I stamped those images repeatedly on a sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 inch white cardstock in Real Red, basically making my own designer paper, or what stampers call a "one sheet wonder," so that it looked like this:

Next came the cutting. I had intended to use that week's card sketch from SCS, SC234, but it just looked too plain and blah. So...I pulled out these eagles I already had stamped up, matted them, and positioned them in the lower right corner, popping them up for dimension. Looked much better, in my opinion. White brads in the upper left corner helped balaance out the finished cards.
