Skywatch Friday 97

Thai Pavilion, Olbrich Gardens . . .

The Thai Pavilion, or sala, was a gift from the Thai government and Thai chapter of the UW Alumni Association. It was built in Thailand, disassembled and carefully crated, then rebuilt on the grounds at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison. It is one of only four salas found outside Thailand—the others being in Germany, Norway and Hawaii. As the gift was approved by the Thai royal family, it bears the royal seal of the Thai crown. You can read more about it here.

Thursday Thirteen 273: A Visit to Olbrich Gardens

Last Saturday, we made a visit to Olbrich Botanical Gardens, where we walked through their Spring Flower Show exhibit, Bolz Conservatory, and a bit of the outside grounds. The flower show had several vignettes based on Beatrix Potter's tales interspersed among the flowers, which my niece loved. Here are some of the photos from inside Olbrich. (See Wednesday and Friday posts for a few outdoor shots.)

FROM THE SPRING FLOWER SHOW:

This scene greeted visitors as they entered the flower show.
I thought I had photographed Mr. McGregor's garden—complete with
Peter Rabbit's little blue jacket—on the other side, but
discovered when I got home that I had somehow missed it.

Thursday Thirteen 304: Olbrich Botanical Gardens

Last week I shared a few of my butterfly photos taken on a visit to Olbrich Botanical Gardens last month. Today I thought I'd share a few photos taken in some of the outer gardens.

Thursday Thirteen 301: Blooming Butterflies

In mid-August, a friend and I were at Olbrich Botanical Gardens during one of the final days of this year's "Blooming Butterflies" event, held in the Bolz Conservatory. Here are thirteen photos of some of the butterflies seen.
