Bleak House Books Aquired by Big Earth

Mentioned in the business section of today's Wisconsin State Journal. Bleak House Books publishes the Monona Quinn series by local writer Marshall Cook.



BIG EARTH PUBLISHING AQUIRES BLEAK HOUSE BOOKS

BIG EARTH PUBLISHING (Neenah, WI) is excited to announce the acquisition of BLEAK HOUSE BOOKS, a Madison-based publisher of mysteries and literary fiction. Bleak House Books has been successfully publishing titles since 2000, and has built a unique and impressive brand respected within the publishing industry. Bleak House Books will continue to publish titles as an imprint of Big Earth Publishing. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Current Bleak House Books President Benjamin LeRoy will assume the role of Publisher, Alison Janssen will continue as Bleak House Books’ Associate Editor, and current Bleak House Books CEO Blake Stewart will become a Consultant.

As an imprint of Big Earth Publishing, Bleak House Books will continue to put out high-quality fiction, with much of their focus on mysteries, as well as expand its activities to support the broader Big Earth Publishing platform.

LeRoy looks forward to the opportunities Big Earth Publishing offers. “As a small press, there are many obstacles in the way of success. Big Earth Publishing has a firm structure in place that will support us as we grow Bleak House and our authors.”

Big Earth Publishing was formed in 2004 and has acquired a number of fiction and non-fiction publishing houses. Acquired companies in addition to Bleak House Books include Johnson Books (Boulder, CO), and Intrigue Press (Denver, CO). Big Earth is committed to the reader and the author, and intends to expand through internal growth and additional acquisitions.
