Busy Bee

I've been as busy as these little fellows the last few days, rearranging furniture and reorganizing my bedroom and "home office" space. It's been quite a chore considering the room isn't that big and I have a lot of books. TONS of them. Mostly of the romance genre, but also suspense, nonfiction, a bunch of classics, and "general" fiction. There are English and French text books, several dictionaries, and hoards of writing books and magazines. And then there are my scrapbooks, 25 completed that fill up the bottom shelf of two book cases. They're oversize, heavy and generally unwieldly, making them no fun to move. Now that most of the work is done, though, it's rather nice sitting in my cozy little nook, completely surrounded by books. Ahh, the pure bliss!

The room itself is neatly divided down the middle by three tall bookcases; bed, dresser, nightstand and video/TV cabinet are now on one side, near the closet, while all of the bookshelves are now on the other. There are a lot of those, too. The computer desk now sits in front of the window and heat vent, chair back against the three larger bookcases. To the left, a small file cabinet and another shelf loaded with magazines and conference binders. running prependiculr to that, along the wall, is another desk with space now for writing longhand, sorting, whatever. To the right...this area gets tricky. Perpendicular to the right end of the desk is another bookcase, facing the right wall, where two tower bookcases filled with more books flank the case now holding my compact stereo. There's enough space between for lounging on the floor with a couple of large pillows. One entire tower is filled with craft books, mostly counted cross stitch. I'd no idea there were so many until condensing them to one bookcase. Yikes!

I swear the books multiply on their own when I'm not looking!

As if all this physical exertion wasn't enough, I also spent most of the afternoon laundering bedding and afghans, and made a trip up to Staples for a longer phone cord and other supplies. It's a two-mile walk one way and was just above 80F today, so was quite the workout.

In other news, I've heard from a published friend that the link to my Romance Divas article on promotion is apparently making the rounds among RWA and author lists. Wow! I was honestly shocked when I heard. Still am. It's both thrilling and unbelievable. Here's the direct link if you missed it before: http://romancedivas.com/articles/TheArtOfSelfPromotion.pdf

Can you see the Kermit-like shade of my face? Yes, rearranging everything is hard work...I just wish I had a room for my writing and books that I could rearrange.
