Cat-o-Lantern

Happy Halloween!

This picture was taken in 2003, in the neighborhood of a friend's grandmother. One of Grandma H's neighbors had carved a dozen or more intricate jack-o-lanterns and had them scattered between the sidewalk and her front porch. A little hard to tell, but there is the shape of a crouching cat (left side) looming over a poor little mouse. This was my first attempt at photographing jack-o-lantern's at night and not having a tripod -- or anything else handy for a makeshift one -- made it a bit difficult to truly capture these awesome pumpkins, not to mention the flickering flames, but I like it all the same. There's just something about it, know what I mean?
