Thursday Thirteen #8: HUGS

Considering the negative thoughts I've had this past week towards my upstairs neighbors (today being no exception--some people are so incredibly rude), I thought I'd aim for something truly positive and uplifting this week. This is adapted from the Family Circus cartoon by Bill Keane, printed in this past Sunday's comics.

13 Things About Hugs

1. They relieve tension
2. They improve blood flow
3. They reduce stress
4. They are non-polluting
5. They help self-esteem
6. They generate good will
7. They don't require batteries
8. They cost nothing
9. They are non-taxable
10. They can be performed silently
11. They are extremely personal
12. They are fully returnable
13. They are recommended for ages 1 to 100 and up. Pass one on!

WHAT a great list! I think hugs are too often underappreciated. They really ARE important.

I'm a hugger and I'm proud to admit it! And this list just makes me want to do it more. Cheap therapy!

They make you laugh! Timeless gems is Family Circle.

Smile Heather, and stay with the positive, the negative will only allow them to have some say in your life - and I think they're too rude for that honor.

Awww, hugs are just the greatest.
Kids are the greatest huggers too. :)

I LOVE hugs. My kids are little, so I get my quota...I'll go through withdrawals when they get to the 'leave me alone' stage

Man, I have neighbours beside me that definitely raise tensions. Maybe I should try more hugs!

Well maybe, but

1. they spread germs- great way to catch the latest flu. Hug a bird and get bird flu, too.

2.they crease your clothes

3.you need to know the rules- who hugs first? Who lets go first? How long do you hold your hug? So much new stuff to learn.

4. Kids always hug you with jammy fingers.

5. When you most need a hug, no one wants to be near you.

6.Some hugs are an excuse to pin your arms so you can't reach the last cookie.

7. Just add an R and hugs are a shrug.

8. Or leave it out and get a gush.

9. Hugs make you weak. If you doubt this, hug some big tall handsome hunk and feel your knees turn to jelly.

10. hugs should be illegal to those not using underarm deodorant.

11. Or to pig farmers

12. Sewerage workers

13. And grumpy writers. (see number 5) Lucky I'm not grumpy at the mo. Where's my hug?

Baaaay-aaabe!

I swear I'll think of a suitable punishment for that as soon as I stop laughing. (((HUG)))

Kissa~ Thanks, but think I'll have to share the mushy award with Gina, after that beautiful tribute to her daughter. *grin*
