Scrappy Christmas

Want a great way to use up long strips of patterned paper? Try this sketch! This is one we did last fall at Splitcoast Stampers, SC95, and it is perfect for using up scraps of designer paper. The long strip on the left is 1-7/8 wide by 3-7/8 long. The two shorter panels are both 1-7/8 wide by 3-1/8 long. By mixing coordinating patterned papers you get a bunch of cards that are similar-- yet quite different. You can add brads or bits of ribbon if you wish (such as the paper ribbon added to the bottom card), but the patterned paper makes it unnecessary. Stamp sets used were Holiday Tag Team and Holiday Hedgehogs, both retired sets from Stampin' Up.

I remember this layout. Your take on this is great. I'm glad I found your blog. To answer your question about my top card with the flowers on my blog -- I cut one inch wide strips of thin typing/photocopy paper and adhered them with temporary scotch tape along the borders of the card, leaving a white rectangle inside the card. With the strips in place, I stamped all over. When I lift up and remove the strips, a stamped rectangle remains. I was using Memory Box paper for the card, which is particularly smooth and doesn't tear when lifting up the strips.
