Thursday Thirteen #32: FreeRice

A couple authors posted the FreeRice site to their blogs this past week, and I have to tell you -- it's quite addictive. Follow the link and click on the answer that best defines the word. If you get it right, you get a harder word. If wrong, you get an easier word. For each word you get right, they will donate ten grains of rice. That might not seem like much, but the game is so addictive those tiny grains add up fast! So far I've managed to get up to level 48, and somehow always seem to end up way back at level 41. I will get to that next level...one of these days! *wink* Here are a few words one might encounter during the game.

1. Sapiential (wise)
2. Frigoric (chilling)
3. Impuissance (weakness)
4. Liquescent (melting)
5. Eidolon (apparition)
6. Perspicacious (astute)
7. Mizzle (light rain)
8. Desquamate (peel off)
9. Vitrify (make into glass)
10. Lugubrious (mournful)
11. Latitudinarian (tolerant)
12. Sedulity (diligence)
13. Periphrastic (wordy)

I can see how this would be addictive! I'm not visiting this site. I'm not! I must finish my book first... ;)

Well, there's a reason you're called Word Trix!!!! I've never seen ANY of those words. Is that sad?

I just can't afford to get addicted right now but its terribly tempting. I love words. Crazy about them.

At least this time waster has a good cause and it might make me smarter. Now I have an overwhelming urge to go see exactly how much rice 1400 grains equals.

Gina~ Hehehe...

Jenn M~ Why thank you. *WEG*

Darla and Paige~ I told you it was addictive. lol

Kaige~ Hehe...hope your DH likes it! *g*

Tara~ So did you cave and check it out yet??

Lia~ That's the spirit! Hehe...

Deb~ Thank you! Must check yours out... ;)

Tempest~ Yup...mizzle is a light "misting" rain.

Robin~ You are NOT ignorant! And besides, you might happen upon some cool new words you can use in your book. *WEG*

Alice~ Yay! Someone else who knows the word "mizzle." I confess, though, that there are a lot of words that come up in that game that I have to guess on, but I try to reason them out by linking to words/roots I already know.
