Joyful Snowflakes

Remember this card here? My friend L's mom saw and loved it so much that L asked if I could make something similar as a gift for her mom. As luck would have it, I had plenty of the patterned paper left, but the three dimensional Mary Engelbreit stickers used in the original design were a no-go. I did look at local craft shops for something similar, and while Michael's did have ME Christmas stickers, they were much too large for the card design. And then my Snow Swirled set arrived! Perfect!

Naturally I thought of piercing the center of the snowflake with a red jeweled brad after I had already mounted the snowflakes. Since they were raised, there was no way I was going to tear them apart and risk ruining the cards. Ah, well... Live and learn, right? (I also thought of using a dot of candy cane Stickles, but decided I didn't have the room to allow that many cards time to thoroughly dry.)

I also had to improvise with the circles. White on red looked too plain, and wouldn't you know I am lacking the scalloped circle punch that would come in between those used for the white and red circles. So, I tried a plain black circle in the same size as the white scalloped circle, and it seemed to be enough. Still would have preferred the next size up, but one must make due with what one has on hand, right? (And I will be getting that punch with my next SU order!)

Stamps: Snow Swirled (Stampin' Up)
Paper: Christmas Stack (DCWV)
Ink: Ruby Red, Basic Black (SU)
Accessories: Circle Punches (Marvy), Ribbon Punch (McGill), Ribbon (Michael's)
