Thursday Thirteen 119: Fresh & Fruity!

Since I did veggies I like a few weeks ago, it only seems fitting that I dedicate one to fruits I like, a list that was far easier to write. Just because I like them, however, does not mean I am good about eating as much as I should.

* Green grapes -- Red are okay and I don't care for the purple (unless they're fermented, of course. Wink, wink)

* Berries -- Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries...I'll eat just about any kind of berry except cran. Cranberries have always upset my stomach.

* Oranges

* Mango

* Pineapple -- Sadly, only in moderation or it makes my throat close up.

* Papaya

* Apples (Eplegaarden pics)

* Kiwi -- Same as with pineapple...sniff

* Coconut -- Mmm...toasted coconut, coconut creme pie...

* Banana

* Guava

* Melon -- especially watermelon and cantaloupe

* Cherries

I love fruit. Yummy.
Thing about cherries--I only like them fresh. Otherwise I really don't like them. But fresh, they're fantastic!
Now I'm hungry...

almost everything you mentioned is locally available in my home country, Philippines, Mango is our National fruit.:)

I do all right with fruit. It's the veggies I have trouble with.

I love fruit and I love your list! My favorite by far are fresh figs, followed by blueberries... and the list continues from there!

Very fun--I'll go check out your veggie list now too.

Yikes, it sounds like you have some very nasty food allergies.

My daughter is allergic to cabbage like that. I keep an antihistamine in my purse in case of unknown cabbage lurking in her food when we go out.

Happy TT.
Janice

I like fruit and try to eat some every day. I think my favorite is berries.

We are mango crazy around my house and when they are in season, hubby and I will easily eat 2 or 3 each every day. We have 2 guava and 1 orange tree growing in our yard, as well as a monstrous green grape vine. Yep, we like fruit, too, LOL.

Yummy list again. Yeah I actually thought your veggie list the previous week was yummy too. I love all of these fruits, except the berries. I don't seem to be very fond of them. Oh, and we got perhaps the best mangoes in the world round here. Next time you travel to Southeast Asia, come around April - June. It's the mango season :-)

We are big fruit eaters in my house. I've never tried Guava. Will have to check it out. Fun list. Happy T13!

Mmm...one of the reasons why I love the summer--fruit is gorgeous this time of year. I love me some watermelon and strawberries and I when I was pregnant I would eat a whole watermelon by myself in 2 days. Yeah, pretty hardcore. I'm with you on the kiwi - too much and my throat and lips tingle and not in the good way.
Great list and Happy T13!

Mmmmmm. Grapes are my favorite fruit. And watermelon.

Yes to all of those! Love fruit!

Yummy list, think I'm going to need a snack now!

Excellent list... though now you've gone and made me hungry! I am big fan of strawberries and I am one of the few people I know that doesn't add sugar to them. When they are perfectly ripe they just don't need it.

I love fruit. Especially berries and grapes. Can you eat too much fruit?

Ella - I don't like all varietes of "fresh" cherries, but I do love them in cherry pie! Mmmm....

Willa - Lucky you! Being landlocked and in the Midwest US to boot, fresh fruit is seasonal, so usually quite expensive. Especially the tropical fruits.

Alice - LOL...I think I do better with the veggies. More varieties of those come frozen, so I am more apt to have them on hand.

Desi - I'm not much of a cereal girl, but I LOVE fresh blueberries and strawberries on my Cinnamon Life or in oatmeal.

Sherilee - I have to admit, figs are at the bottom of my list. Not quite the very bottom, but close.

Janice - Yes, I do have a slight allergic reaction to some citrus fruits. As long as I don't gorge myself on them I'm okay. Moderation is key.

Shelley - I'd say berries are my faves as well. Too bad they're about out of season here. We had a TON of blackberries and raspberries on the bushes at work a few weeks ago.

Carleen - Oohh...I am suddenly envious of anyone who lives in a more tropical region. I don't know about eating 2-3 mangos a day, but I could easily do a couple a week!

Hazel - I've actually never been to Asia, but I'll try to remember (should the chance ever arise) that the best time to go is mango season! ;)

Stephanie - You, a fanatic? It can't be possible! *g*

Heather said...

Living It - Yay, someone else who dislikes purple grapes as much as I do! *VBG*

Adelle - I love guava. Ah, heck, I pretty much love most tropical fruits. Were it not for the sweltering temperatures, I could easily live in the tropics.

Cambria - Oh, never noticed it with the lips, but it is comforting to know others have this problem when eating too much of certain tropical fruits.

Jennifer - I think watermelon was more a favorite as a kid, but one thing is certain: nothing says summer like a slice of watermelon on a sultry eve with fireflies dancing.

Heather said...

Paige - Hehe...thought you might approve. Thanks for the inspiration, BTW. ;)

Belle - I aim to taunt. *WEG*

Calico - Hope you enjoyed your snack!

Lauren - Thank you. Whether I add sugar to strawberries or not depends on how tart they are and what I plan to do with them. If I'm mashing them up to poor over angel or pound cake, I usually add a bit of sugar. Cutting them up to top pancakes or cereal, no sugar.

Jill - Ordinarily I'd say you could never eat too much fruit, but as my sister would say, I never had to change my niece's diapers. Apparently they learned in a hurry to limit consumption of certain types of fruit. ;)

you missed one of my fave - nectarines. but i love fruit, so it's hard to go wrong. now i'm hungry.
