Teaser Tuesday 37: Second Wind

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read.
* Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

I read this book first weekend of May. My first Dick Francis, and definitely not the last! How could you not be pulled in by these last lines from the prologue?

I'm drowning, I thought. The waves are bigger. The storm is worse. I'll go to sleep soon.

Delirium brings comfort at the end.

(pg 2)

About the book:
Second Wind by Dick Francis
Genre: Mystery

TV weatherman Perry Stuart takes a hurricane-chasing ride in a small airplane as a holiday diversion. But a frightening accident teaches him more secrets than wind speeds. And back home in England, he faces threats and danger as deadly as anything nature can dish out.

Great tease. I also like Dick Francis. I chose a mystery as well. Here's my teaser.

Kathy: Reflex and Hot Money... Thanks for the recommendations. Will look for these two next time I visit HPB!

Harvee: Wow, I am finding so many Dick Francis fans this month (here and on Goodreads). Guess I shouldn't have put off reading him for so long! ;)

I love Dick Francis, too. I've read all of his books, some several times. I think my favorite is Bonecrack. Odds Against is also fantastic.

My teaser is here.

Sounds like a great book! I have never read a Dick Francis book, but really need to. One of my girlfriends parents names were/are Dick and Connie Francis. :)

Here's my teaser about a book restoration expert and her adventures in Scotland...

Jackie: Thank you, and thanks for stopping by!

Audrey: I admit, I'd taken notice of his books for years and always meant to try them, but it wasn't until a May challenge in the Cozy Mysteries group that I finally took the plunge - and now I wonder why I waited so long!

WLT: Since you like mysteries, you might enjoy Dick Frncis. I If Books Could Kill ~ can't wait to read your teaser!

My mother is always trying to get me to read Dick Francis. But she's always talking about the horses.

Heather said...

Alice: Most of his books do revolve around horses (he was, afterall, a jockey). While there is a mention of horse racing in this one, airplanes and hurricanes are more integral to the mystery than the horses.

I'd hate to drown . . . nice teaser. Kaye—the road goes ever ever on

Kaye: I don't think that would be a pleasant way to go, either. Thanks for visiting!
