Teaser Tuesday 33: When a Stranger Loves Me

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read.
* Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

I read this one a few weeks back. It is the third in a series about four brothers. Sadly, it doesn't look like we will get book four, as the author has changed publishers. Maybe some day...

"It doesn't change the fact that what I now like least about you is your self-seeking interest, your ability to use and deceive an injured man who has no means of escape from your venomous attentions."

"I seem to recall," she said, striding back into her room while Jack followed, "that you quite enjoyed those attentions, sir, especially when you knew there would be no consequences."

(pg 193)

Book blurb:
I saved his life . . . and I had much to demand in return.

When he washed up on shore, I knew my prayers had been answered, and that I, Lady Chelsea Campion, need no longer fear poverty and heartbreak. To secure my family's estate, all I needed was a child. Handsome, clearly noble-born, and with no memory of his previous life, the mysterious man was perfect. All I had to do was visit his bedchamber and seduce him. I had expected him to be a skillful, scandalously wonderful lover, but once in his arms I was overcome by something more than mere passion. I had fallen hopelessly, desperately in love.

My plan has gone shockingly awry. But I will not give up a man who makes me feel such wicked ecstasy. No matter his true identity, no matter the secrets he struggles to remember, I will do anything in this world to make this stranger love me.

I could see it being a really good book, or a "meh", either way easily. Must not be too bad if you're already that far in. Then again, unlike me, you read fast.

Alice: It was a pretty good book. I read it in March, as part of the Year of the Historical reading challenge (three down, nine to go). It's funny, too, that you consider me a fast reader, as I don't think I read near as fast as I used to. There was a time I could read 4-7 books in one week, now I feel lucky if I read one a week!

those kind of plans seem to always go awry--I guess that's why they make interesting reading :)

isn't there an old saying about the best laid plans of men or mice? something like that. Sounds like you're enjoying the book. thanks for visiting!

Kaye: Definitely the reason why, LOL!

Book-Soulmates: Thank you. I would recommend reading the series of three in order if possible.

Laura: I believe she would have - had they not been interrupted. ;)

Kaye: Yes, Robbie Burns was a very wise man (he's the one who coined the phrase, in a poem to a mouse).
