Quiet Oasis

I wish there were more benches like this scattered throughout the Arboretum, a quiet place to escape reality for a bit, to just sit and contemplate the life around you, or nothing at all.

I frequently wished there were more benches when I was there. However, it seemed certain benches got quite a workout while others were hardly ever used. I'm not sure I'd want the grass poking me with this one.

There is actually a bit of a path leading to this from the left side of the picture, but I didn't like the way light reflected off the bench in the pic taken from the other angle. This one looked more picturesque. *g*

While walking this evening I wandered down a few different paths from my usual route and discovered another bench. Would have been a lovely spot to sit and enjoy my surroundings for a bit, if not for the blasted mosquitoes. They sure know how to ruin a moment!

Have you tried the Listerine thing? It's supposed to work better than mosquito repellent, but so far I haven't had a chance to try it out. We have West Niles disease here, so every bite makes us all nervous.

Listerine? No, have not heard of using that. I have a bottle of Skintastic, which usually works pretty well, but for something like water-logged prairie this time of year, I think I want something easier to spray ALLLLLL over. Like Off Deep Woods. lol

I look at that picture and while yes, it is very picturesque, all I can think is...SNAKES!

lol

Has kind of a storybook hideaway quality to it, though.

Thankfully, I have NOT seen any snakes on my walks. Plenty of mosquitoes now, though, thanks to all the rain we had in June.
