Thursday Thirteen 175: Internal Playlist

There are days I never turn the radio on at work. Sometimes it's because there is already too much noise (either machines or people); some days it's because the Internal Playlist is blasting loud enough to keep me company. Okay, so maybe no one else can hear it, but do they really count? Sometimes it's a song I've heard recently on the radio or TV. Sometimes something I've seen or read might have brought a song to mind. And some days something will pop into my head completely out of nowhere, with no rhyme or reason. Here are some of the songs I've had playing in my head over the past week. Click on the links to hear any with which you are not familiar.

* The Brandenburg Concerto #5 by Bach
(The Brandenburg Concertos are a favorite piece of music played in high school orchestra, esp. numbers 3 and 5.)

* My World (Sucks to be You) by Bascom Hill
(This one made me smile and laugh first time I heard it.)

* King of Anything by Sara Bareilles
(I blame this one on a recent episode of Medium.)

* What About Me? by Moving Pictures
(Prompted by the song above.)

* Gone Gone Gone by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant
(The official video is blocked in the USA...the nerve!)

* The Sound of Sunshine by Michael Franti
(Dare you to listen to this one while sitting still!)

* Theme from "The Munsters"(This would be one of those completely out of nowhere songs.)

* Autumn Leaves by Nat King Cole
Or, if you prefer, Les Feuilles Mortes, by Edith Piaf
(While walking in the Arboretum under...autumn leaves. Duh!)

* Strong Enough by Sheryl Crow

* The Entertainer by Scott Joplin
(Prompted by a mention of the movie, The Sting; I used to be able to play this on by heart on the violin. Emphasis on used to.)

* Hammer and a Nail by Indigo Girls

* Go On by Bascom Hill
(Woke up with this one in my head)

* Shattered by O.A.R.

Don't recognize half of these, but I do love Sheryl Crow. Happy T13!

Sandee: Thank you! At least I had all good music I like in my head this past week. Don't you hate it when you get a song you can't stand stuck on autoplay?

Adelle: Ah, but look--I included the links for any you might feel inclined to check out. *VBG*

They're not bad songs to have in your head. I have The Black Eyed Peas and I Got a Feeling inside me head. It's there quite a bit recently.

Heather said...

Shelley: No, definitely not a bad mix here. And, as I said to Sandee, at least they're songs I like, not ones I can't stand.

Love it! Did you watch Ally McBeal? She said that everyone needs a theme song- a song that they always play in their head. She spent a lot of time trying to figure out other people's theme song.
Thanks for the fun TT!

Heather said...

Lemme: No, I never watched Ally McBeal, but that's interesting about the personal theme songs. I think she'd have as much difficulty as me figuring out mine, LOL.

Alice Audrey said...

Ooo a new one from Bascom Hill. Thanks.

Interesting. I like the idea of an Internal Playlist. Now you have me thinking about what tunes would be on mine. :) Happy TT!

I clicked on The Sound of Sunshine. It was fun :)

King of Anything is a favorite song of mine. Right now I keep finding myself singing Home by Michael Buble, and How to Break a Heart by Nikki.

Great list idea!

Happy TT,

Wow. I'm utterly unfamiliar with most of those. I need to schedule some serious time with my music maintenance! LOL!

Happy TT!

There are certain songs that have played on and off in my head for years, like "What's it all about, Alfie?" and "What's new, pussycat?"

Though I always watched the Munsters, I don't remember the theme song! LOL! I never heard of any of the others! LOL!

I love The Brandenburg Concertos. Totally relaxing after a rough day at work. Funny though, how hubby tends to be on his best behavior after I play. I wonder way? LOL

Happy T13!

Alice: Technically it's an older song by Bascom Hill, but glad you like! There is another new one I've head, "Save ME," but the only video I can find online is one recorded live by an audience member, so the sound qaulity SUCKS.

Brenda: What? You don't have music playing in your head all the time?!

Hazel: Isn't that a fun song? Always makes me smile!

Divaa Divine: Thank you. *g*

Heather said...

Xakara: Buble is another favorite singer, but I haven't heard him on the internal tuner in a while. ;)

Kimberly: Hehe...always happy to expand someone's music knowledge and inventory. *wg*

Colleen: Thankfully, those are songs I usually do not hear playing in my head. LOL

Heather said...

Sandra: Thank you. *g*

Harriet: No, they really don't. And I seriously have no idea what prompted it to pop into my head. I mean, sure it's close to Halloween, but I was walking in the Arboretum, not along pumpkin and ghost-strewn sidewalks.

Paige: Well here ya go, now you can refresh your memory on The Munsters theme song. Hehe...let someone else get it stuck in their head.

KS: I've always thought "Brandenburg" relaxing as well, both the playing and listening of it.

OH COOL!
I have "King of Anything" as my ring tone.
And I love love love "Hammer and Nail".
"Autumn Leaves" is one of my favorite NKK songs. (I love him. He's so awesome).
The others I'll have to wait until I'm at home to hear.
Love this TT.

Cool idea for a list! Mine is mostly country and Christian music though, and oddly enough some stuff from Les Miserables, I know... weird huh? I made a list too, 13 internet quizzes I've taken, it's here: http://lifes-adventures.net

Cheers!

Wow. You have a busy brain. I love Sheryl Crow; that's the only one I recognize.

CountryDew @ Blue Country Magic (having trouble with the sign in these days)

Heather said...

Jennifer: I've had "King of Anything" in my head most of the day. Is that a general ringtone you have, or is assigned specifically to the DH? *g*

Noelle: I love the Les Mis soundtrack, though I have yet to see the actual musical. Would love to go when it's here next spring. Sigh...

Anita: Some days it's a little too busy, LOL.

Tatiana Caldwell said...

I didn't have any song stuck in my head until I read this post. *laughs* Now the theme to the Munsters is on repeat! I hadn't thought about that song or show in ages! :)

Maddy Barone said...

What a great ecclectic collection of music! There is something in this list for every music lover!

{S.T.U.F.F.} said...

this is a really fine list, indeed.

What's playing in my head? Anything by Elton John...

Nice Post!

Thanx

jillconyers said...

Cool. New songs to add to my playlist. Thanks!

Heather said...

Tatiana: Hehe...insidious, isn't it? *WEG*

Maddy: Thank you. My personal music collectio is definitely eclectic, so no surprise the internal music system would be as well.

Stuff: Oh, Elton John. Not a bad artist to have stuck in your head!

Jill: You're welcome! *VBG*
