Teaser Tuesday 58: Night of the Living Deed

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

FINISHED MONDAY EVENING. This was a good, fun mystery, even if I did know whodunnit a hundred pages in (it's a 325-pager). It was the perfect read for Halloween weekend.

John Fogarty of CCR was warning me not to go out tonight as I reached down to get the [putty] knife from the floor. Then I heard something from above me, and I looked up just in time to see the bucket of compound slide itself off the top step of the ladder.

And fall directly toward my head.
(pg 17)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Night of the Living Deed by E.J. Copperman
Genre: Cozy mystery

Newly divorced Alison Kerby wants a second chance for herself and her nine-year-old daughter. She's returned to her hometown on the Jersey Shore to transform a Victorian fixer-upper into a charming--and profitable--guest house. One small problem: the house is haunted, and the two ghosts insist Alison must find out who killed them.

Carrie: Having been hit in the head years ago by a falling hammer, I can say--definitely not!

Jennifer: Certainly not something I'd relish cleaning!

Marce: Aren't they just? *G*

BookishSnob: I'm thinking there wouldn't be enough Tylenol, lol.

Shelley: Uh-huh...first it had me wincing, then the scene had me laughing.

Lisa: Thanks, it was a fun book. There many laugh-out-loud scenes.

Marg: Anything falling towards one head is never good!

Beth: Nope, not even at home. Especially when remodeling is involved.

Alayne: Hehe...if only you knew just how spooky! ;)

This is weird. My comment from yesterday isn't here. Now I can't remember what I said. Something about not what I expected, I think. I've been watching Zombie movies.

Oh, I love stories (with mysteries) in old houses...so cozy, yet scary.

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

EJ: Thanks, I really liked your teaser, too!

Alice: Ack! I thought it a bit strange that I had comments on other posts from you, but not this one. Curious...

Oh, and I don't do zombies. Ugh!

Laurel-Rain: Any mystery involving an old house is bound to be good, be it cozy or gothic. *g*
