Have just started reading this one for the Spirit of Christmas reading challenge. Here's a truly random teaser, since I am not very far into it thus far.
Whatever it was must have hit Tom's sleeper car directly. The sound was very loud, like a cannonball clanging off the side. He almost fell off the couch. (page 71)
About the book (from GoodReads):
Disillusioned journalist Tom Langdon must get from Washington to L.A. in time for Christmas. Forced to take the train across the country because of a slight "misunderstanding" at airport security, he begins a journey of self-discovery and rude awakenings, mysterious goings-on and thrilling adventures, screwball escapades and holiday magic. He has no idea that the locomotives pulling him across America will actually take him into the rugged terrain of his own heart, as he rediscovers people's essential goodness and someone very special he believed he had lost. Equal parts hilarious, poignant, suspenseful, and thrilling, David Baldacci's THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN is filled with memorable characters who have packed their bags with as much wisdom as mischief and shows how we do get second chances to fulfill our deepest hopes and dreams, especially during this season of miracles.

Interesting teaser!
I read this last year and really enjoyed it. Kaye—the road goes ever ever on
I've been seeing some fun Christmas books today. I haven't read this one.
Wow, I haven't heard of this Baldacci book...sounds exciting.
Here's my TT:

Great teaser! This sounds interesting. I have yet to read a Christmas book this year. My teaser is at Coffee Table Press
I didn't know he wrote Christmas books! Nice teaser. Mine is at The Crowded Leaf.
Susan: Thank you.
Kaye: I saw it mentioned a lot last year, so put it on my list to look for at the UBS. Just after Christmas is the best time to look for books for next year. ;)
Beth F: I've seen a lot of good ones mentioned this year, both at GoodReads and various blogs.
Laurel-Rain: I take it you have read others by Baldacci? This is my first. Not a bad introduction!
Aimee: Gasp! Not even one? Time to get reading, girl! *g*
Alayne: Yes, he has written at least one. I know he's well-known for his thrillers, and I have one of those on my shelf to try sometime in 2011. Something to look forward to! *G*
I hope that you are enjoying it. Wanna see what my Teaser for Tuesday is?
Thanks, Lori. Was so tired last night, that I have not read very far, but hope to really get into it today.
Sounds like an Oprah pick. You'll have to let us know how you like it as you get further in.
Alice: Definitely not an Oprah pick. Baldacci is too mainstream for Oprah. ; )
Well you picked a good teaser considering it was random. You can see my teaser here if you'd like to pop by.
Can you believe I've never read anything by this author?! I hope you're enjoying it. I wish I was reading a Christmas-themed book.
Never heard of this author but what a great teaser certainly got my interest piqued.
My Tuesday Teaser
Oh my! This is the next book I plan on reading for the Christmas Spirit Challenge and the 2010 Holiday Reading Challenge.
After reading that teaser, I can't wait to get started.
Mine is up at Wakela's World
Darlene: Thank you, I thought that was great luck in picking a random page.
Lisa: This is my first time reading Baldacci, too, and I am liking it so far.
BLH: Glad to have piqued your interest! *g*
Wakela: Ah, a fellow challenge participant. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
Doesn't she like the occasional mainstream?
Not usually. Most of her choices are "literary" fiction, with the occasional classic (such as her current pick) or nonfic thrown in.
The synopsis makes this sound like a wonderful, heartwarming read - perfect for Christmas - and what else can we expect from Baldacci? Thanks for sharing your teaser! Here's mine: http://jewelknits.blogspot.com/2010/12/teaser-tuesdays-december-14-2010.html
Thanks, Julie! This is a good story. There are some scenes that practically have you in tears, and then there were others that had me almost laughing out loud on the bus. I've not read anything else by Baldacci, but do have The Camel Club on my TBR pile for 2011.
