Thursday Thirteen 182: Homemade Christmas 3

During the last two weeks, I've shared some of the handcrafted ornaments that I personally have made for my Christmas tree. Some of my friends and family are also crafty people, and I thought I would share some of the gifts received over the years from one such friend. KM is really into ceramics and makes something different every year, as many as 30 or 50 to give away to friends, coworkers and family. As my parents often received one as well, I now have doubles or companions to many of those made. I can't wait to see what she has poured and painted for all of us this year!

This one is so shiny and smooth it was really hard to photograph. Black cats because she has two of them.

This set of Holly Babe ornaments was made for me a couple years ago. Very fragile and heavy, and too pretty not to photograph together. You should be able to get a larger view if you click on the photo.

Between what has been bought or made for me, I could probably do an entire T13 on raccoon ornaments. I'll be nice and spare you...this year. *wink*

KM poured and painted the ornament herself. The raccoon is a decal. Everyone received one of these one year, but with decals suiting their own likes or interests.

One of the yummiest ornaments on my tree. There should also be a gingerbread boy, but he seems to have gone missing. Hmmm...

Don't you love the faces of this whimsical duo?

Pale blue dove. The flowers are decals.

Cats of all sorts are a popular theme.
Not that any of us have or like cats. *Snicker*

Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers icicle snowmen. I remember she had a difficult time with these, as some of the icicles either did not set right, or broke when she was trying to remove them from the molds. They are as fragile as they look.

This one was made to commemorate a summer trip during which we saw several lighthouses. Decal over a smooth ceramic disc.

There is a companion trowel with a bunny peeking over the left side. Sorry I didn't think to photograph them together.

There is also a pink one of these. I much prefer the blue.

Frosty and friend bearing gifts.

I would LOVE to see your Christmas tree in person! These are awesome. I especially love the gingerbread girl. Happy Thursday!

Oh, I LOVE #1! I have a black cat, and I think that ornament is so nice!

Stephanie: Thank you. Because I only have a little 3-foot tree right now, I cannot display them all every year. It can be quite difficult deciding which ones to use from one year to the next. One of these years I'm going to have a big tree again!

Maddy: I had a feeling a few people might be partial to that one. *G*

I like the light house and the snowflake. I like the cat too.

Oh these are lovely. The cat is gorgeous and so is the gingerbread girl and the icicles. I've always loved icicles. I can't believe you have all these wonderful things!

Alice: The lighthouse is definitely a special part of my collection. Assume you mean the black cat? There was more than one posted. ;)

Bratty: "Those icicles have been known to kill people!" Hehe...couldn't resist. There's something about icicles I've always liked, too. I am lucky in my collection, aren't I? *vbg*

Oooh... I want the frog on the trowel (I collect frogs!). I love that your tree is decorated in memories... those are the best kind

Those are great ornaments; you must have a very special Christmas tree. What an impressive collection

Fantastic! It reminds me of a cousin of mine. Ceramics can be so much fun. I have a frog on a trowel like that, but it's only resin. Happy TT!

Love the raccoon. They are all nice. How neat she takes the time to do this every year.
Happy Holidays!

Very pretty! The first one looks like it's made out of chocolate (or maybe I'm just REALLY craving some chocolate right now)

Marianne: Thank you, some of the ornaments certainly do bring back memories.

Anita: Thank you, my ornament collection definitely puts my tree in the "special" category.

Darla: It is interesting seeing some of the molds or pre-poured pieces she finds every year--and how she paintes them. There have been a few that have had her cursing, lol.

Adelle: Umm...which raccoon? There are two, one right below the other. I definitely need to take pics of all my raccoon ornaments for next year! LOL

Caridad: Thanks, and happy to inspire! *G*

Savannah: Thank you!

Harriet: Thank you!

Tatiana: LOL - it does sort of look like chocolate.

Virginia: Thanks, I love the frosted look she gave it. I wish she'd done some in a glittery white.

Beati: I was hoping someone would like those two as much as I! *g*

That's quite an eclectic mix. I have some from the 1950's that I grew up with.

Heather said...

Xakara: Thank you!

Colleen: Isn't it just? Sadly, I have no true "heirlooms." I have no idea what happened to all of my grandparents old ornaments, from either side of the family, and Mom had few of any real value, mostly the cheap department store kind.

Alice Audrey said...

Yeah, I meant the black cat. It left more of an impression. Plus I used to have black cats.

Another friend with the black cat fetish. I should have known! lol

I forwarded this post and comments to my friend. She got quite a kick out of reading it and what people had to say. You all really made her week! : )
