Teaser Tuesday 75: Through a Glass, Deadly

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This is from early in the book, the first in the Glassblowing Mystery series by Sarah Atwell. In this excerpt, the main character, Em, has just settled into bed for the night when her dogs alert her to trouble in the shop below her apartment.

In an old building like this, which heated and cooled every day, there were always mysterious creaks and thumps, and it was hard to sort out which were coming from the building—and which weren't. Then there was a thud that definitely was more than old wood complaining. (pg 32)

About the book:
Through a Glass, Deadly (book 1 of 3)
By Sarah Atwell (a pseudonym of Sheila Connolly)
Genre: Cozy mystery

Glassblower Emmeline Dowell has made a home for herself among the artists of Tucson's Warehouse District. But her friendship with troubled newcomer Allison McBride takes a dangerous turn when Allison's husband turns up dead in Em's studio.

Now Emmeline is involved in a murder investigation that reaches beyond the sunny Southwest. And when the killer acts again, it's up to her to pick up the shards of Allison's life before it's too late.

That's why I like to have cats in the house. You can almost always blame them for the odd sounds.

Sadly, that is all too true, LOL. Cats are good at finding Trouble.

Ooh, this one sounds good! I hate when buildings creak like that...especially if it's not the wood settling...

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

Your teaser makes me wish to look out for this novel!

My tbr pile is already SO long!

Here is my Teaser Tuesday: THe Noah's Ark Quest by Boyd Morrison post!

Belinda: Thanks, it's pretty good so far. Only at the halfway mark right now.

Sally: Thanks, not a bad mystery so far.

Laurel-Rain: Uh-uh...I had a hard time sleeping during the blizzard last month because of all the creaking and moaning of the building in the high winds. *shivers* Still, I'd rather listen to that than people moving restlessly above me.

Gautami: You think your TBR pile is huge, LOL! I have boxes and shelves of unread books. I will (sadly) never get to them all.

Shelley: Yes, I think everyone has heard spooky house-settling noises at some time or another.

Thanks, Kaye!
