Thursday Thirteen 193: Ain't Over Yet

When we went to bed last night, the forecast for Southern Wisconsin was for rain/drizzle overnight, with maybe an inch of snow by morning. Sometime around midnight, the storm system shifted and we awoke to not one, but FIVE inches of heavy, wet snow. Uh-huh... Winter, it ain't over yet. Here are a few of the 60-some pics I took before leaving for work this morning.

It was such a heavy, wet snow, that cars were almost buried and you can see where it has started to slide off the car hoods.

One of my neighbors cleaning off his car. Note how only the driver's side and 2/3 of the windshield are cleared? Yeah...that is all he cleared, which even a non-driver such as myself knows is illegal. Talk about an accident waiting to happen!

There are bushes under there somewhere.

A junko in the crabapple tree outside my front window. They did not seem to mind the snow.

The stool is still there. It looked like someone cleared off half of the seat, though why anyone would want to sit outside in heavy falling snow and bitter cold is beyond me.

I love this "snow leaf."

This is crazy stuff. Our weather in Wenatchee has been weird though. Snow in the a.m., then it stops, sun comes out, gets up to 47 or so, then cools down and rains.

Next day, all over again.

WTF?

I dunno about you, but I'm thinking Hawaii sounds good right about now.

Bratty: Yes, someplace warm is definitely sounding nice right about now. I hate the yo-yo weather of March.

How strange. We've had another really humid day. I'm glad I'll never look out our windows and see the same views.

I miss being in Wisconsin but I look at this and can't help but be grateful to be in the Southwest!

I would have liked to get one more snowfall, myself - but I'm practically on the other side of the world from you, so it's not going to happen. Sorry you're getting dumped on - literally - so much this year.

Wow, it was a beautiful snow. Thanks for recording it and well, then sharing. :)

Wow! I feel your pain. We have a little bit of snow still on the ground, but nothing compared to your snowfall. Hopefully it is the last one of the season for you.

Happy T13!

Dear Winter,

Our relationship has been full of ups and downs, periods when you blew hot and cold, when you froze me out, when you taunted me with brief flashes of warmth. But I'm done. I want you out. Now. And don't show your face around here again.

And you said MY picture looked cold?!

I like that "snow leaf", too! Hang in there.

Heather said...

Shelley: Sadly, not so strange for this time of year. March weather is nothing if not unpredictable.

Xakara: LOL...yes, this is the time of year you start to wish you lived somewhere else. Or, at the very least, could escape somewhere warm.

Thanks, Kimberly! I doubt we've seen the last of the snow for this year. In fact, there's a chance of rain/snow predicted for Saturday.

Brenda: It was pretty, wasn't it? I missed how much you guys got over towards Milwaukee. Looks like all hell has broken loose down town today. Can't believe the Ignoramous in Charge thought last night's sneaky, underhanded move would shut people up.

Anita: Late snow? Not at all--we've been known to see snow into mid-May. *shivers*

Harriet: Ten, but that doesn't mean anything up here. We could see a lot more snow yet this year. :-\

Adelle: Thanks, hopefully this is the last significant snow of the season--but I won't hold my breath.

Heather said...

Maddy: ROFL...thanks for the laugh, my friend. *g*

Alice: Well, it did! LOL

Thanks, Darla. That pic made walking round the back of the building and tramping through mud and snow worthwhile.

Whew!!! You're BURIED! That's some great pictures though.
And I'm pretty angry too about what happened last night. I can't believe the blatant disregard for constituents.

Heather said...

Paige: Yikes, indeed! lol

Jennifer: Buried is a good word for it, though the weather has certainly not detered people at the Capitol. I fail to understand how Walker and Fitzgerald thought such underhandedness would end the situation. All they have done is royally pissed people off and fueled the fight. ON WISCONSIN!

Heather said...

Oh, and it's not just a blatant disregard for constituents, but for the law as well. The senate dems that left the state were not breaking any laws, since nowhere does it say they have to meet at the Capitol, or even in Wisconsin, but that closed-door meeting and vote last night? That was in violation of Constitutional law.

Love your photos, make me cold just looking at them.

Heather, I heard about the weird vote on NPR today. Wisconsin is the talk of all places, it seems. WTH is going on over there?

Did they bury their brains in the snow??

JCB said...

I love the photos. We also had a dump of snow here In Alberta, but ours was dry and fluffy and created insane drifts.

Tatiana Caldwell said...

*sighs* I had to drive up to Wisconsin this week for a business trip, and let me tell you - the snow came out of nowhere and it came HARD.

Took me totally by surprise.

Pretty to look at in your pictures, but it wasn't fun while I was there for work! Humph.

Alice Audrey said...

lol

Heather said...

Janice: Thank you--sorry to make you cold. *g*

Bratty: Yeah, it's been pretty crazy here the past month. As for burying their brains in the snow...they'd have to have brains first. I hear there were 100,000 people at Saturday's Labor Rally on the Square--I was unable to attend due to out of town guests.

Heather said...

Julie: Thankfully, most of what fell last Wednesday has already melted, and there will be a lot more melting this week as temps warm into the 50s.

Tatiana: Actually, we were under a winter storm advisory Tues night into Wed evening, but -- originally we were supposed to get more rain/sleet than snow. The system shifted more to the north after midnight, though, so we ended up with 5X what we were supposed to. Yay, us!

Alice: *GRIN*
