I love Irish music. When i was in college I ws part of the MSU Heritage Dancers, and we did some Irish dancing. I miss that!
Quite a few of these are familiar songs. I remember the Commonwealth games in the boxing a few years ago now. An Irish boxer won the gold medal and they didn't have the Irish National anthem available to play. One of the officials sang Danny Boy without music. It was very moving, and I've never forgotten it.
Maddy: That sounds like it was a lot of fun, I can tell you enjoyed it.
Shelley: Oh, I bet there wasn't a dry eye in the stadium. What a special moment that must have been!
Id have to say I think at least 99% of people know Danny Boy. Happy T13!
What a nice reprieve from all the terrible happenings in the world. Thanks for that, and Happy St Patrick's Day.
Mercy: You could be right, LOL. It is one of the most popular and traditional songs of our time.
Adelle: You're welcome, I'm glad you liked!
Some great songs there.
I was piddling around on YouTube this morning listening to some of these very songs!
Happy St. Patty's Day!
Aye, lass, the wee bit o' Irish in all o' us, eh? Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Oh. Wow.
You know, I never really got into the Celtic Women (not sure why) but OMG that rendition of "The Isle Of Innesfree" made me cry.
Probably because one of my Dad's favorite movies is "The Quiet Man" and I watch it every St. Paddy's Day.
These were AWESOME!
I like County Down, a traditional song that Van Morrison did, because it has my name in it "Colleen" and because my husband sang it to me at an open mic once.
Excellent choices!
Enjoy your Thursday!

Thank you! These are great.
I have to admit I'm not into Irish music. Though I do like Tubthumping by Chumbawumba. They're Irish, so does that count?! LOL!
*hugs*

great list and perfect for today! Happy St. Patrick's Day :-)
Loved this list and my Dad, who was a tnor, sang many of these songs. Was just at a St. Paddy Day parade and one of the floats had a band singing Whiskey in the jar. Love that song!!
I love the idea of Celtic Woman, but it's rare that I sit through a whole song.
Anthony: Thanks, and thanks for stopping by.
Long & Short: Happy St. Patrick's Day to you as well!
Anita: Aye, so they say. *G*
Thanks, Jennifer: I'm glad you enjoyed that one, and hope it brought back good memories of your dad.
Colleen: I am not familiar with that one, will have to check it out!
Harriet: Thank you.
Darla: You're welcome, I'm glad you liked.
Paige: That's an awesome song, so yes, it definitely counts!
Thanks, Janet! *G*
AlphaWoman: The local group The Kissers usually appear on my fave local station on St Pat's Day and do "Whiskey in the Jar" live, but um...I slept through the early morning show today so missed hearing if they were on.
Alice: I have a couple of their CDs and was surprised that the men at work did not object to them yesterday. Today I'm listening to The Corrs.
ME LIKAH THA CELTIC!
Except, my dad looked at me funny when I asked, "Is that the Boston Keltics?" when he had the sports on.
~shrug~
I love Dúlaman. I played a number of songs by Lúnasa for my 1st grade class today and they danced all over the classroom.
Always love a musical edition! Some of these are familiar and I look forward to checking out the rest.
I have a free read this week as part of a larger bloghop. Let's pretend it's 13 Pages from an ongoing story. *wink* The grand prize for participating in the hop is a Kindle 3 and I wanted to make sure my regular T13 friends knew and had a shot at it. :)
Happy TT,
~Xakara

Great collection H
Being of Irish extraction, I can't help but love them all.
The man and I saw Celtic Woman when they came to Sydney last year. They were fantastic!
Maggie
Is it just me, or do the Irish have a particular affection for melancholy songs? Even some of the happy songs are actually sad!
Catherine: Thanks and LOL at your Keltics comment. *G*
Babette: I can imagine the little ones dancing to Celtic music--I bet they brought huge smiles to your day!
Xakara: Glad you liked. I'll be sure to check out your offering!
Maggie: I thought you might enjoy--I remember you mentioning the concert. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BTW! *vbg*
Kimberly: It does seem that way, doesn't it? LOL
