Thursday Thirteen 224: Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween, everyone! For your viewing pleasure this week, I thought I might share a few of the Halloween decorations up around my neighborhood. While most houses feature no more than a pumpkin or jack-o-lantern or two, others go all out this time of year—as you will see below.

I love this display of multi-colored trick-or-treat pumpkins.

A window of the local elementary school.

While ghosts flit about the trees in this yard...

...tombstones list in the sideyard.

Oops...guess someone had a mishap.

I've saved the best for last. This house is located on a back loop in the neighborhood, and was a real treat when I came upon it. Below are a few closeups of the yard.

I wonder if they realize they've misspelled 'Dracula'?

And yes, Frankenstein really is a Packers fan!

Safe and Happy Hauntings, everyone!

Halloween really is so big in the US. I actually enjoy looking at the photos. My fave on your list is the third. The side yard grave is creative too. The last shots are a lot of fun to observe. I noticed "Dracula" too :) Fun fun T13!

Hazel: Yes, Halloween is certainly big here in the US. I'm glad you had fun looking at my photos! I didn't notice the spelling on the sign when I took the picture (too far back), but noticed it right away once it was uploaded to my computer. LOL

These were fun. I like the way everyone decorates their lawns for halloween.

You don't see hardly any of that where I live. I remember going to this house and a guy dressed as Frankenstein ran down the driveway with a leaf blower. Scared the bejeesus out of us. I think we went back to that house ten times that night lol
Great pics. Thanks for sharing.
Happy T13!

Love it! I'm going for a ride with my brother today to look at all the decorations in my area :D Great idea for your 13. Happy Thursday!

That grave is cool! Great list and awesome decorating!

Shelley: Thanks! Some people really go all out with their yards or porches. You can walk down one street and find a ton of decorations, then see hardly anything on the next block over.

Adelle: Sounds like fun. That guy must have loved Halloween!

Love that last one, too. Spooky. ;-)

Folks around here don't go out so much for Halloween. We're more into "Fall" or "Harvest" decorations that can stay up through Thanksgiving. Also, this being the Bible Belt, Halloween as a "holiday" isn't as big. We have Harvest Festivals and Pumpkin Palooza instead of Haunted Houses and spooky events.

I miss the old days when Halloween and spooky stuff weren't so frowned upon. We had some awesome haunted houses and ghostly trails at our church when I was a kid. Really miss all that.

Now that's the spirit! Check out ibeati's site. She has some fun Halloween photos too.

There are only a couple of houses around here that put up decorations, but they went all out. We haven't yet because I'm still trying to paint the house.

I really miss all of the displays back in the Midwest. I'm sure there are neighborhoods here in New Mexico that go all out, I just don't live in one.

Thanks for the pics!

Happy T13,

Wow, what a great display that last house has. I enjoyed looking at it! Thanks for sharing.

Raina: I hope you have fun looking at decorations with your brother!

Gel: The graveyard set up at that last house was definitely cool.

Jana: There are a lot of people up here who go in more for "harvest" decor rather than "Halloween." I like both.

Colleen: Thank you. Already been to ibeati's site, and those were some fun party ideas she posted.

Alice: I always find it interesting to see which neighborhoods get more into decorating, both for Halloween and Christmas. Hope you get the painting done soon!

Xakara: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the pics. Northern and midwestern states definitely seem to "do" Halloween more than any others. *g*

Anita: Isn't that house awesome? I might have to walk up that way after work Monday evening and see if it is lighted.

I've never seen a blue pumpkin before. Very cool.
Enjoy your Thursday!

I love some of those graveyard pics! Awesome!

Harriet: I thought the multi-colored pumpkin display was genius. No idea where they found all those colors, but love it!

Hi Ellery! Didn't I say that graveyard was awesome? Would love to see what your spiderweb looks like since you added limbs. ;)
