This reminds me of an article in our local paper today. The Forest Service reclaimed a wetland by giving some cattails a "haircut" with burning and running cattle. Seems those things can get out of hand pretty fast. The cattails I mean.
I believe it. They're definitely a hardy species, and controlled burning is beneficial in so many ways. Not only does it kill off more invasive species, it helps native species thrive.

Apparently the cow hooves churning up the water/soil was important too.
Huh. Who knew they were good for more than fertilizer?
