New Project, Update 2

As promised, photo updates on the mystery cross-stitch project.

WEEK 4:
I had to tear out the entire lefthand and top border and redo it, after discovering I had miscounted my yellow border stitches (that line all the way around, just inside the patchwork squares). It was a tedious three-day process and I'd like to say that was the only mistake I've made, but there have been others since. In fact, I had to tear out the blue line flowting near the top left last night upon discovering I was a row too high. Sigh...  I'm sure there will be plenty more corrected before this thing is done.

WEEK 5:
As you can see, I nearly finished the border, as well as the bottom title panel. Large blocks of one color tend to go much faster than a quarter stitch here, a three-quarter stitch there.

WEEK 6:
Finished the border and title panel, backstitched around letters, and started backstitch around the yellow border. Also started filling in around bottom of dress and am almost done stitching the "bellhop." I had to take out his arm/hand and the tray last night. Was too tired to redo the hand, so guess that's where i will probably start next.

CLOSE-UP OF BOTTOM SECTION:
Here's a closer view of the bottom area, so you can see the backstitching done. There is still a lot of that to go, as well as about one million French knots. Oy!

I love it!! Where did you find the chart? I would like to add this one to my to be stitched pile!!!
(sorry you've had to rip it, rip it, so much)

Thanks, Susan! I received the kit as a gift from a friend. It is called "The Princess of Quite a Lot" and is designed by artist Mary Engelbreit. The company is Plaid Bucilla. I did some more work on it this afternoon while watching a couple movies and - thankfully! - did not have to rip out a single stitch.

It's coming along nicely. I still can't quite figure it all out but the monkey "bellhop" is adorable. :)

Thanks, Jana. The cross-stitch is based on a popular image of mary Engelbreit's. I have a pair of ME pillows a friend made for me a few years ago, one of which has this same image. I thought I had posted them, but in searching just now did not see them. Will have to find the pic I have and post it with my next update.

Love it! Love the quirky sayings and art work of Engelbreit. I so miss the Home Companion magazine!

Thanks for sharing, Heather.
