New Project, Update 4

Project updates from the past two weeks.

WEEK 8: Finished almost all of the cross-stitching and did more of the backstitching.

Closeup of the girl and throne:

WEEK 9: All cross-stitching is finished. Now to finish the backstitching, straight stitches and about one million and one french knots...

Another closeup of girl and throne so you can see the differences between the previous week's work (photo above) and this week's work. I stil have some work to do around her face and hair.

And here's another. All the grain of the wood (the darker brown stitches on taupe) and outlining of chair arm were done while watching a movie last night.

I feel for you on the French knots. I just did a couple dozen of them, and that was more than enough.

I don't usually mind when there are only a few scattered here and there, but this design has a ton of them. The flowers in the vase are comprised of at least two dozen of them.

It's when they are packed too close together that I have the most trouble. I tend to be a bit sloppy with them.

Very impressive! And such detailed work that I doubt I'd have the patience for...but I love it!

I remember French knots....

I did a post today that featured some of my Engelbreit stuff...MY TUESDAY POTPOURRI

Alice: That may be a problem with the flowers I have to do for this one. But, I'd rather have a bunch close together than have them all spread out with no way to secure your thread.

Laurel-Rain: Thank you. I admit that I am starting to get bored with it, so will have to push myself to get some work done on it this week. If I stop now, who knows how long it will take to finish?

Awesome.

I'm impressed, as usual, at your talent and level of dedication to what looks like a supremely detailed piece. I'd never get past the first couple of stitches.

Good luck with the French knots! :)

Thanks, Jana! As mentioned above, I'm at that point in the "detail" work where I'm starting to lose interest. Did not work on it at all yesterday or Sunday, so must work on it a bit tonight.

Never hurts to take a break...so long as the break doesn't last more than a year. hehehe

Or more than ten, like the "break" I took on "Starry Night." So glad I finally finished that one last year!
