Thanks Alice and Jana! Can you believe I was only a few feet from this guy? The rabbits in my friends neighborhood are not only well-feed, but not all that wary of humans.

Someone must be feeding them.

Yeah, that dude is way bigger than any of the bunnies 'round here. And all our bunnies run at the slightest hint of humans.

The squirrels on campus, though...they "people watch" and I'm fairly sure make fun of us as we pass by them. lol

Alice: More like they've been helping themselves to peoples' gardens. From march through May there was a lot of lush, green grass and weeds to dine on. The last two months, though, the grass has been brown and brittle...dormant...but I think they are managing to find a few gardens that are being watered.

They better enjoy even that while they can, as Madison Water Utilty warned of impending restrictions as the drought and unusually high temps continue. 98F right now (1:30pm), heading over 100 today -- which will be our fourth triple digit day this month! :-\

Jana: The bunnies and deer in Kim's neighborhood (she lives near a nature preserve) have it good. There are few fences, so they are free to roam from one garden to the next, as if it were one giant salad bar.

Can't say the squirrels at the Capitol are all that trusting. They tend to shy away from humans, and have even been known to pelt people with twigs and nuts during the Wednesday evening Concerts on the Square. Friendly, they are not! lol
