Finished Secrets to the Grave by Tami Hoag, over the weekend. This is the second in her Oak Knoll series, and now I can't wait to get my hands on book three. This week's teaser comes from somewhere near the middle of the book.
Tears came then, and fear. Where the hell was she?
The memory came back in strobelike flashes. Night. Walking. Choking on her fear. Begging for her life. A gunshot.
(Chapter 42, pg 246)
ABOUT THE BOOK:
This is the second of a trilogy, and heavily refereces events that occur in book one.
1. Deeper Than the Dead
2. Secrets to the Grave
3. Down the Darkest Road
"My daddy hurt my mommy."
The 911 call from a small child sends the idyllic California town of Oak Knoll into a tailspin. A brutal crime scene is discovered: the body of Marissa Fordham with her young daughter, Haley, injured but alive.
Sheriff’s detective Tony Mendez faces a puzzle with nothing but pieces that won’t fit. To assist with his witness, Haley, he calls teacher-turned-child advocate Anne Leone, who’s already the star witness in a sensational murder trial.
As Tony and Anne begin to peel back the layers of Marissa Fordham’s life, they find a clue fragment here, another there. And just when it seems Marissa has taken her secrets to the grave, they uncover a fact that puts Anne and Haley directly in the sights of a killer: Marissa Fordham never existed.

It's been awhile since I read a Tami Hoag book, but this one sounds really good. Thanks for sharing...and here's MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
Wow! I am going to have to look for this series. It sounds great. My teasers are multiple this week. On Inside of a Dog, I am teasing Ransom River by Meg Gardiner and, on Ms. Martin Teaches Media, I am teasing Seraphina by Rachel Hartman and Team Human by Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan. Happy reading!
Laurel-Rain: Both books in this series were good. I do love a great rom suspense!
Kathy: I think you would like this series, based on other books/authors we've had in common. ;)
That is absolutely chilling. Nice teaser.

Very intense, great choice for a teaser!
Thanks for stopping by my TT earlier today.
Thanks Janet and Cecelia! :)
I don't think I've read this one. Your teaser has tempted me!
Intriguing one. It's been a long time since I read anything by this author. It sounds really good.
Thanks, Shelley. Happy to have tempted you. *g*
Yvonne: Deeper Than the Dead and Secrets to the Grave were my first books by this author, and definitely won't be the last. I love a good page-turning suspense. :)
I haven't read Tami Hoag in awhile but they are always exciting! Hope you enjoy!!
My teaser
This sounds like an intense read. Thanks for stopping by.
WOW Intense! What the heck happened?
Thanks for stopping by My TT!
Wrighty: They are exciting reads, aren't they?
Beth: Yes, very intense. It kept up until the wee hours of the morning. *g*
Memories of gunshots is such a Tami Hoag thing. That never existing thing is intriguing. I haven't read this one yet.
I've only read the two books by her so far, and only the second one had a gunshot victim. I had suspicions as to who the murderer was early on in this one, but there were enough red herrings to still keep you wondering.
