BOOK NOTES
* Secrets to the Grave by Tami Hoag is book two of her "Oak Knoll" series.
* Ghost a la Mode was a freebie I picked up, the first in Sue Ann Jaffarian's "Ghost of Granny Apples" series and was a fun read.
* Lorna Barrett was the May Featured Author for the Cozy Mysteries Group at GR, and this was book three of her "Book Town" series. I enjoy the premise of this series (town reknowned for its bookshops), but doubt I will read more.
* Nancy Pickard was the June Featured Author for the Cozy Mysteries Group at GoodReads. Generous Death, Say No to Murder and No Body are the first three books in her "Jenny Cain" series.
* Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series was on loan to me by my sister and BIL. Excellent series. Highly recommend to those who enjoy Greek mythology and YA Fantasy. Book one, The Lightning Thief, was made into a movie out in 2010, which I have NOT yet seen. Book two, The Sea of Monsters, is currently in production, due out August 2013 and will feature Castle's Nathan Fillion as the god Hermes (I can't wait to see that!). As with the Harry Potter series, I recommend reading these in order.
* Already Home by Vicki Lewis Thompson is a novella leading up to her latest "Sons of Chance" trilogy.
* Beautiful Sacrifice is a rom-suspense by Elizabeth Lowell, tying into the Mayan "End of Days" hype.

I haven't read a single one of these but a couple look interesting.
The only author here I recognize is Elizabeth Lowell, although Vicki Thompson also sounds familiar. Lots of reading!
I take public transportation and I often check out the covers of books my fellow commuters are reading. (One reason why I hope everyone doesn't switch over to tablets!) Tami Hoag is certainly popular around here. I really must give her a try.
Shelley: Sue Ann Jefarrian, Nancy Pickard and Rick Riordan were all new-to-me authors. If you haven't read Tami Hoag, I do recommend her. And if you like Greek myth as much as you do fantasy, definitely try Rick Riordan.
Anita: Vicki Lewis Thompson has been around probably as long as Elizabeth Lowell. Both got their start in romance, and though Lowell has branched out to suspense, VLT still writes romance, though many of her longer, single title books are rom-coms or feature paranormal elements.
Gal Herself: I also try to sneak peeks at the titles of books others are reading, no matter where I am. While I like the convenience of an ereader at times (such as for traveling or finding cheap out-of-print books you can't find anywhere else), I love the feel of print books, and being able to see at a glance what someone else is reading and possible strike up a conversation about favorite authors.
I've sgarted a memoir by Baraba Kingsolver about eating local food.
I've got a couple of these on my wish list already.
Colleen: I've never been fond of memoirs and have never read Kingsolver--but it definitely sounds like the kind of book you would like. Enjoy!

You make me feel soooo guilty for my lack of reading. I've been so all-consumed with my writing. I will definitely reward myself with some reading time once it's completed.

Adelle: Definitely reward yourself, but don't feel too bad--I did at least three times as much reading in June as I usually do as I was without my computer for two weeks. It was too hot to do anything outside, so I mostly stayed inside at night and read.
I see you like a wide variety of books - so do I! Currently I'm reading "Shooting at Loons" by Margaret Maron (a murder mystery).
