I've never personally tried growing roses before but my parents have several rose bushes in their yard (reds, yellows, antiques and knock-outs) that they just dug a hole, set 'em in it with a touch of water and walked away. They bloom beautifully...Until the deer eat them all down to numbs. Seriously. How do we not have an entire population of deer with peirced tongues??
Jana: You must have the right kind of soil in your area. Here, there's a lot of clay mixed in with the soil, which makes growing them a bit tricky. Not to mention that deer and bunnies seem to love them. There are certain plants you can mix in around the roses to keep them away, such as marigolds and garlic, and moth balls are also supposed to be effective.

I love roses. They're hard work to grow though.
I would agree, they are very difficult to grow--more so in some areas than others.
The title is spot on--those are lovely pinks. :)

Beautiful!
Thanks, Anita! :)
Fantastic rose shots. I was searching for ones just like these when I was working on that quilt I gave away a while back.
Fantastic rose shots, just like what I searched for a while back when I made that quilt I gave away.
