Thursday Thirteen 262: Autumn leaves

The leaves are already past peak here, and many of the trees now completely bare. Here's a glimpse of what they looked like a week ago...

While they were on, they were gorgeous.

The leaves in my yard are still green, even after having been snowed on. The ones to the West of us are almost done and to the east they aren't even started. Most peculiar. What bothers me is that I can see a lot of green leaves on the ground at the base of my maple. I'm afraid it will skip entirely. Some years are like that.

deciduous trees are like cowboys.

spring: always leafing. winter: always gone.

Alice: Yes, the leaves that changed were gorgeous, even if it didn't last very long this year. A lot of trees never changed color, a consequence of this year's drought. So glad we haven't had snow yet!

Pearl: LOL...groan. Thanks for visiting!

So pretty!

Ours haven't really started changing yet. A couple here or there maybe but for the most part still green.

Thanks, Jana! : )

This has been a wacky year for leaves. While some of our trees are about to peak, others are still green. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful comment on my site. Have a great rest of your day!

Oh, the reds and oranges! We're so lucky to get four seasons here in the midwest. Thanks for reminding me to appreciate them.

Harriet: Wacky is a good way to describe the fall folliage this year. It wasn't too much of a surprise that we hit peak color a couple weeks early this year, since the growing season in general has been excellerated since mid-March, when we had record highs. I'm glad you liked the comment I left on your post!

Gal: Yes, we are certainly lucky to experience all four seasons here--though some of them can be a bit extreme at times, LOL. I'm glad you are appreciative of the autumn foliage today! :)

Tania: The changing leaves is one of my favorite things about fall. *g*

You always have such awesome pictures this time of year. I love the one with the scattered leaves.

Jennifer: Thank you! Sad to say, it's been so cold here this week, I have been very unmotivated when it comes to walking. We've been below average all week, and have had rain twice, with severe storms possible Saturday.
