Teaser Tuesday 156: Yule Be Mine

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

At the end of last week I had started a mystery by a new-to-me author--had only finished the first chapter--when tragedy descended upon Connecticut. Though I tried to press on, I just couldn't get into chapter two of the mystery. So, I set it aside and plucked another holiday-themed romance off Mount TBR. I am currently halwayf through Yule Be Mine, a 4-in-1 anthology by Lori Foster. Here are a couple teasers for you.

Turning, she said, "What?"

Gently, he drew her all the way around to face him. He looked first into her eyes, letting her see the curious heat in his, then he looked at her mouth. His voice dropped. "This."

("He Sees You When You're Sleeping")

Poor Parker. She knew which choice he'd prefer her to make. She licked her lips.

("White Knight Christmas")

He stepped in and demanded, "Where's the donkey?"

She twittered a laugh. "Donkey?"

( "Do You Hear What I Hear?" )

~*~*~*~*~

Eyes narrowed, she nodded at Levi, turned to face her family, and announced, "I've changed my mind Hurt him all you want."

("The Christmas Present")

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Sparkling days, crackling fires, long steamy nights. . .Christmas is all about making memories. In four delicious tales of seduction and romance, New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster brings you all the pleasures of the season--and then some. . .

Booker Dean knows exactly what he wants for Christmas: his next-door neighbor, Frances Kennedy. And he's got a gift planned for her that involves lots of delicious unwrapping.

Officer Parker Ross hates Christmas, while Lily Donaldson lives for it. But he's willing to be converted, especially when Lily is the one doing the persuading.

Sergeant Osbourne Decker suspects pet psychic Marci Churchill is barking mad, but she's also a knockout. And when she's accused of stealing a donkey from the local nativity scene, he can't stop thinking about frisking her.

Furious at her cheating fiancé, Beth Monroe decides to enjoy a payback tryst with his gorgeous best friend, and finds that revenge is best served hot and sweet. . .

Sounds as if there is plenty of humor in this anthology.

It was awful what happened in over there. Many prayers are going out to these families.

In times like these, it's good to fall back on a light read that helps brighten up our hearts.

Shelley: Yes, there is a bit of humor mixed in with the heat in this anthology. Those are always the best kind, aren't they?

Vonnie: Switching to a lighter read has definitely helped. And it is snowing here today, which also has me feeling more light-hearted.

Hi Beth! This has been a fun read so far. Two stories down, two more to go! :)

Laurel-Rain: I like anthologies that are tied together by a theme, too, and so far have liked what I've read in this one. I've just started the third and it based on the first few pages looks to be the funniest one in the collection.

Alice: It's been a while since I read anything by her, as well. The copyright on it is 2009, though I swear I picked it up this time last year at Target.

Thanks, Yvonne! So far, so good. ;-D

Ambrosia: Thanks. It was definitely what I needed after last Friday. I couldn't watch the news all weekend without crying. I'll try to get back to that mystery after Christmas.
