Teaser Tuesday 158: The First Prophet

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week I am reading The First Prophet by Kay Hooper. This is the first book in a new Bishop series. My teaser:

She couldn’t feel her legs beneath her. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t hear anything. And all she knew was cold fear.

(chapter 5)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Bishop Files #1

Within the FBI, there exists a team of psychics whose powers cannot be denied. But these agents are feared—by a cabal of conspirators with only one weapon: to blind the psychics to the evils all around them.

Months ago Sarah Gallagher woke from a coma with psychic abilities she couldn’t control. They changed her life and cost her the man she loved. And now, someone is playing games with Sarah’s mind.

It begins with Sarah’s home being destroyed by fire—an act of arson that draws novelist Tucker Mackenzie into Sarah’s confidence. But he has other reasons for pursuing a woman who can see what others can’t. So does a mysterious enemy intent on eliminating Sarah, and everyone she cares about. Because it’s only a matter of time before her visions lead her and Tucker to a secret many will kill to hide. Only then will they begin to discover the scope of a terrifying conspiracy so deep and complex they can trust almost no one.

This sounds fabulous. Love the cover too.

Here's my teaser.

That certainly reads like a Kay Hooper. She's good at the Romantic suspense with a heavy doze of serial killer.

Thanks, Cheryl! Definitely an interesting cover, no?

Alice: Yes, Hooper is a master at rom-suspense and writes some pretty creepy serial killers. I'm up to chapter nine and so far the mystery is still unfolding. The friend from whom I borrowed this said the ending left her a bit confused, so I'm eager to finish and see what happens.

This is way out of my "Comfort Reading Zone" I think I will pass this one by.

Thanks for the visit today.

This one sounds really good...thanks for sharing; and for visiting my blog.

Gigi Ann: So far, there has been a lot of suspense, but nothing really scary. I suspect that may change soon. Hooper writes great rom-suspense, but I know she's not for everyone.

Laurel-Rain: It has been good so far. I keep staying up way past bedtime to read it.

This sounds so good. It's been a long time since I read anything by this author.

Kathy: So far this one has an interesting premise. I'm eager to see where it's going.

Yvonne: If you like her Bishop series, you'll definitely want to pick this one up. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for the next one!

I haven't read a Kay Hooper book in ages! And that teaser sounds scary. But it's a great pick! :) Thanks for stopping by.

Heather said...

Beth: Indeed -- there are different types of scary. Thanks for visiting!

Kara: Thank you! I am a few books behind in another series of Hooper's, but have kept current with this one. Of course, it's been two years since we had a new Bishop book, so I couldn't wait to dive in.
