Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!
For those interested, I have not yet finished last week's featured book, Mrs. Dalloway. As it was a group read for one of my GR groups in January, and has been chosen by another group for March, I will continue reading it this month and (hopefully) finish by end of February.
On to this week!
I am just starting a cozy mystery, If Walls Could Talk by Juliet Blackwell. It is the first in her "Haunted Home Renovation" series, and promises to be a much faster read than my previous book. I have not read this author before, but have heard a lot of praise for this book and am looking forward to giving her a try. Here's a teaser from the first page:
My former client lay sprawled on a worn black leather couch, a gash between his eyebrows still oozing blood.
I had warned him.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
First book in a series, published in 2010
Since she took over her father’s construction business, Melanie Turner has made quite a name for herself remodeling historic houses in the San Francisco Bay Area. But now her reputation may be on the line.
At her newest project, a run-down Pacific Heights mansion, Mel is visited by the ghost of a colleague who recently met a bad end with power tools. Mel hopes that by tracking down the killer, she can rid herself of the ghostly presence of the murdered man.
Mel’s only clue is an odd box she discovers inside a wall at the job site. If she can make sense of its mysterious contents, she might be able to nail a killer—before she becomes the next construction casualty . . .

I like the idea of combining home renovation and mystery. Sounds like a good read.
My Teaser is from SCARLET NIGHTS.
Sandy: There's a lot you can do with home reno and mystery -- one of my favorite series to combine the two is Jennie Bentley's "DIY" mystery series.
This sounds good. I think I'd like the ghostly setting.
Shelley: The ghostly aspect is definitely what caught my attention. I was right about this being a much faster read, too. Flew through the first three chapters in nothing flat!
Warned him of what? That's not quite the response I expected! Here is my teaser for this week.
That sounds really good:)
Hmm, it sounds like a good one. I'm always up for a cozy....thanks for sharing.
Here's MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
Interesting premise with the combination of ghosts and construction work. it interests me just because I end up doing so much renovation.
Beth Starr: Heheh...that does draw you in, doesn't it?
Tania: Thanks, so far it is. I didn't want to put it down last night, but finally had to when I could no longer hold up the book.
Laurel-Rain: There's nothing like a cozy on a cold winter's night. *g*
Alice: It's a combination that always seems to reel me in. We've seen our first ghost, now I'm eager to see where this goes.
Nice teaser, like mysteries.

Tribute Books Mama: Thank you. I love delving into mysteries on a regular basis. So far this one has been a fun, fast read.
Ghost and mystery? Sounds interesting...
ai love books
I've been wanting to read this one. Sounds excellent!
Nash: Yes, there is definitely a ghost, and I'd say more than one mystery at this point. *g*
Yvonne: Come on in, the water's fine! Seriously, a lot of people in the Cozy Mysteries group at GoodReads are reading this right now--and we didn't even plan it. Everyone who has finished seemed to love it.
