Thanks, Jana. I have a feeling we won't see magnolias blooming here until late this month. Everything is behind this year. Good news is -- I was over to K's house this weekend helping with yard work and she has tulips, crocus, iris and daffodils coming up. No blooms yet, but they were finally coming up!
Yes, there are magnolia trees in Wisconsin. Apparently, some of the more than 80 different species are hardy enough to withstand our cold winters. We have several in my neighborhood, not to mention dozens of trees at Longenecker Gardens at the UW Arboretum.

The Japanese Magnolias all bloomed here weeks ago but the regular Mags haven't yet. Not that I've noticed, anyway. I'm notoriously unobservant. ;-)
Love these shots, though. :)

There are magnolias in Wisconsin? I thought they were only a southern tree.
